Stampendous Challenge Time!

Some days you just need to stop and smell the roses!  Dial it down a notch or two and enjoy some crafty time.  That's what I did with this week's Stampendous Monthly Challenge.  I had been wanting to try the new no line stamping technique where you stamp your image in a light color of ink.  When you color the image in with your markers, the lines pretty much disappear and it looks like you've drawn the image yourself.  Pretty cool, huh?  This was my first attempt with the technique and I'm pretty pleased with the results.  Rather than make this into a card I decided to make some wall art for my stamp room.  I've always had a thing for roses so when Stampendous came out with this Jumbo Cling Cottage Rose set, I pretty much swooned and knew I had to have it!  So here's the list of challenge players for today:

Lea Kimmel (That's me!)
Pam Hornshu
Susie Moore
Taylor Usry
Melinda Gleissner
Stephanie Lee
Jennifer Ingle

And we want YOU to play along with us! Simply make a gift, gift set (could be cards, could be an altered item), or a gift card holder of some sort and add the direct link for your project to our collection at the end of this post (or on the Stampendous blog) no later than Thursday, May 31 at 11:59 PM EST . You do not have to use Stampendous products, but we sure love it when you do! As an extra incentive for playing along, one lucky crafter (drawn at random) will receive this fabulous new Cling Jumbo Tropical Garden stamp set:

Due to shipping restrictions, the winner must have a US address. We hope you have a chance to play along with us (you an enter as many times as you'd like!) this month...Happy Crafting!

Gathering

One of my jobs at Enchanted Cottage is to create samples for the store.  How lucky is that?  I love creating new things and having so many goodies right at my fingertips to use.  Well, I was recently given the task of creating an album using a Bo Bunny Naked Album with the Authentique Gathering paper kit.  I loved putting this book together and hope you will enjoy the pics.  Keep in mind that I'm not allowed to use photos or do any actual journaling.  Personally, I think that makes the task harder.  It's always so much easier for me to create when I have inspiration from a photo I'm using for the page.  At any rate, enjoy!

I added some Bazzill and May Arts ribbon to the gorgeous papers that came in the kit.  We still have some of the kits available at the store as well as a few paper kits of their other lines.  I used a Copic marker to edge each page and the album itself; I think it gives it a more finished look.  So there it is, I do hope you like it.  Thanks for stopping by!

Lea

Stampendous Challenge Time

Hey all!  Yep, it's Saturday so that means it's time for a weekly challenge at Stampendous.  We've been given the challenge of creating a gift item.  That could be a myriad of items from something as simple as a gift card holder to something far more elaborate.  Today I'm showing you a simple gift item that was fun and easy to create.  I purchased a blank white EK Success canvas frame from my local stamp store and using the Stampendous Ranunculus, I stamped it onto the canvas and colored it with Copic markers.  I love it!  By the way, those are two of my six children.  That's Sarah and Joey when they were 5 and 3; they're now 18 and 16 and still just as cute!

Here's a list if the rest of the Design Team members that are playing along this week.  As you hop along, be sure to leave some love along the way!

Can you dig it?

It's release day! So that means it's time for a blog hop!!!

This is an extra special hop, because you get to meet the newest little Teen Scene character! This character is close to Betty's heart, but then again, so are all the Teens, right?   However, someone was missing in Betty's little clan of Teens inspired by her and family and friends! It was only natural to add this little person!   Please say hello to Skull Castle Jude!

Now it's time to get hopping! Don't forget to hop on back to the SBS Blog at the end and grab your discount codes!!

Munsters love the beach too!

Just ask Beach Time Lola and Chris Munster, they'll tell you its true!  Aren't they adorable?  Yes, I know I usually have more color or layers or embellishments and I do apologize for the simpleness of my card but it has just been one of those weeks.  When your mojo goes to the beach (I'm sure that's where it went!) and leaves you hanging, well, that's when you get simple!

These are two of the newest images from the Simply B Stamps Summer Fun collection.  Simple or not, they are great!  Be sure to check out what the rest of the design team has put together for you on our blog.

Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you back here soon!

Surf's up!

Happy Scrappy Day!  That's right, we're celebrating National Scrapbooking Day at Stampendous!  Working at Enchanted Cottage, one of the largest rubber stamping and scrapbooking stores in the southeast, I hear customers say that they scrapbook but they don't stamp.  I'm sure I must look at these people as if they are aliens when I hear that.  Why not stamp on your scrapbook pages?  To begin with, stamps are a whole lot more economical than stickers.  How many times can you use that sticker?  Once.  Now, how many times can you use that stamp?  Only a gazillion!  Here's a cute little example of just how easy it is to use stamps on your pages.

All the images on this page are stamped and colored with Copic markers.  Which debunks another myth!  Who says you can't color with Copic markers on textured Bazzill?  We won't go there right now.  Let's get back to stamping!  This is a simple page with a very basic layout but the paper and stamped images all complement each other.  I've also added a little embossing powder for sand which gives it just a touch of texture.  I hope you like my page and I really hope it inspires you to get your stamps out and ink up those scrapbook pages with something besides a journaling pen!

Products used:

Bazzill Paper
Fancy Pants Designs Summer Soul 6 x 6" Paper Pad
Copic Markers
Memento Tuxedo Black Ink Pad

Instructions:

  • Cut photo mat patterned papers to size and determine where you are going to adhere them
  • Stamp each Changito image and color with Copic markers
  • Stamp plumeria flower image four times to create a border on top and bottom of page and color
  • Adhere photo mat patterned papers
  • Using VersaMark pen, add ink where you want to add embossing powder to create "sand"
  • Add embossing powder over VersaMark ink and heat emboss
There you go!  A cute page created with paper and STAMPS!  Happy scrapbooking!

Hugs,
Lea
