Wednesday, June 25, 2014

Woohoo! It's Wednesday!

Time for another Wicked Wednesday ATC Challenge!  Our sponsor this week is Crafty Sentiments Designs with a theme of Teddy Bears.  The image I've used is called Couples and I fell in love with it the minute I saw it!  Pretty sweet, don't you think?!

Here's what I used to create this ATC:

Copics® - E23, 25, 27, 29, 40, 41, 42, 43; YG61, 63, 67; R81, 85; BG0000; B41, 45; Y00, 02, 04
Copic® Blending Solution (and Washcloth)
Neenah® Classic Crest™ Solar White Cover Stock
Memento™ Rich Cocoa
May Art Ribbon® - Burlap Twine
Misc. Patterned Papers
Beacon Adhesive® Zip Dry™

Here's what I did to create this ATC:

I printed off my image, colored it with Copics, and trimmed it down to size (I colored the bears first and textured them with blending solution prior
I trimmed my two patterned papers to the necessary size
I adhered my top two layers together, created my bow and attached it to the back of the layers before attaching it all to the base
Last but not least, I stamped my sentiment onto the top of the card

I love the sweetness of this image and plan on using it to create some cards to sell.  I hope you like it as much as I do!  Thanks for stopping by today and I hope to see you again soon!  Have a blessed day!

Hugs,
Lea

Decorate with DecoArt and Stampendous!

                      2014_06_decoart

WELCOME - to our weeklong blog collaboration with DecoArt Paints, Princeton Artist Brushes, and inspired by Willow Wolfe. If you missed Monday's excitement, here's the LINK. DecoArt creates so many fantastic paint products, our team was excited to try so many! We know you'll be stunned when you see what these great products add to your stamping! When you combine them with Princeton Artist Brushes and Catalyst Wedges used on the Stampendous Creative Palette, well WOW!

While Debbie Cole, CDA is an expert at adding paint to your stamped creations, the real excitement happens when she shows Decorative Painters how to use stamps to minimize their prep time in astonishing ways! In fact, she's made a series of five videos featuring the Stampendous Creative Palette and DecoArt paints. You can check them out on our YouTube channel here! Here's my project for today:

In normal lighting

Lights off with some outdoor light coming through

Lights off and exterior lighting blocked

I loved using the glow in the dark paint on this project!  The paint absorbs the light and then gives off this fantastic glow and these were taken rather soon after applying all the paint.  If I had waited to take the photos another day, the stars and moon would have been even brighter.  This idea just popped into my head over the weekend and I had to use this stamp with this paint, it was screaming at me, begging me to!  The Twisted Tree stamp isn't available on the Stampendous site just yet but it's possible it may already be in your local stamp store.  It will be available on the Stampendous site beginning July 6th.

Here's what I used to create this project:

Stampendous® Stamps Twisted Tree (Available July 6, 2014 on-line, may already be in your LSS)
DecoArt® Americana™ Glow in the Dark Paint
DecoArt® Americana™ Paints in Navy Blue, Burnt Umber, Snow (Titanium) White, Pineapple, Flesh Tone, French Vanilla, Hauser Light Green
DecoArt® Traditions™ Paint in Carbon Black
Ranger® Archival Ink™ in Jet Black
Artist's Loft™ 6"x6" Canvas Board
Circle Die
Neenah® Classic Crest™ Solar White Cover Stock
Scotch® Double-Sided Tape

Here's what I did to create this project:

Chose a circle die the size of the moon you want to create and cut it
Decide where you wish to place the moon and adhere die-cut circle with tape to canvas
Paint sky first being sure to leave room at the bottom for grass
Remove die-cut piece and dry paint with heat gun
Paint moon next and dry, one you've dried the paint, go back and add glow in the dark paint, dry
Paint grass at bottom and dry
Ink image and stamp onto canvas being sure to press hard to get the best impression
Paint details of stamp, heat dry
Add "stars" with glow in the dark paint

Old, New, Borrowed, Blue, Again!

Time for more "old, new, borrowed and blue!"  Well, I guess it depends on your perspective!  The card is one I created a while back, however, it's never been on my blog before, that's my "old" and "new!"  It has some "blue" flowers and they're very summery looking so I can imagine them in a wedding.  Okay, so I don't have a "borrowed," that's okay, three out of four isn't bad!

Just to recap the challenge, this month our challenge is, "Old, New, Borrowed, Blue", with the obvious thought being a wedding theme...but not necessarily. Add an old embellishment or picture. Use a new stencil design or technique. Borrow, or CASE (copy and say everything) another designers project, and obviously, blue...is blue.  Here's my card:

Here's what I used to create this card:

Dreamweaver Stencils© Stencil LX 7021 Corner Flowers
Dreamweaver Stencils© White Embossing Paste
Stampendous!® Stamps Friendship Assortment Perfectly Clear Stamps™
Neenah® Classic Crest™ Solar White
Bazzill® Cardstock
Memento™ Tuxedo Black
Copic® Markers
May Arts Ribbon™
Queen & Co® Rhinestones
Beacon Adhesive® Zip Dry™

Here's what I did to create this card:

Paste emboss the stencil onto white cs, set aside to dry
Reposition stencil onto dry paste and color flowers with Copic markers
Trim stenciled piece to desired size
Create card base from pink cardstock
Stamp sentiment onto white cardstock, trim to desired size
Create mat for sentiment and adhere pieces
Attach embossed piece to front of card base
Using foam mounting squares, attached matted sentiment
Attach ribbon to card
Add rhinestones

This is it for me today.  I'll see you again tomorrow with another post.  Until then, check out the rest of my team members and play along with our challenge!

Have a blessed day!  See you again on Friday!

Hugs,
Lea

Cut background paper to correct size

Add ribbon to card with glue

Old, New, Borrowed, Blue

At Dreamweaver Stencils, we love to make our monthly challenges something for everyone, and not so strict that no one wants to play along. This month our challenge is, "Old, New, Borrowed, Blue", with the obvious thought being a wedding theme...but not necessarily. Add an old embellishment or picture. Use a new stencil design or technique. Borrow, or CASE (copy and say everything) another designers project, and obviously, blue...is blue. Where will YOUR creative process take you for this month? We'd love to see! And remember, linking your creations with the Inklinkz tool at the end of the team posts, provides you with the opportunity to win the stencil of your choice! Here's what I've created for this week...

Here's what I used to create this project:

Dreamweaver Stencils© Your Wedding Stencil LL 3034
Dreamweaver Stencils© Lace Rectangle Stencil LJ 839

Tsukineko®/Imagine Crafts® Delicata Pigment Ink Pad in Silvery Shimmer
May Arts Ribbon®
Bazzill® Cardstock
Spellbinder® Die
Beacon Adhesive® Zip Dry™
Foam Mounting Squares

Here's what I did to create this project:

Paste embossed Your Wedding stencil with matte black embossing paste, set aside to dry
Next, brush/ink-stencil the Lace Rectangle stencil with silver pigment ink and then apply sparkle embossing powder and heat emboss
Once black paste is dry, cover the black paste with the same silver pigment ink and then apply the embossing powder and heat emboss (Originally I had planned to keep it black)
Trim the Lace Rectangle piece close to the edges and adhere ribbon
Create card base and adhere Lace Rectangle piece to card base
Die cut the sentiment and attach foam mounting squares and adhere to card

I know the challenge specifically mentions blue but I've always loved lavender and silver together so that set my color scheme.  The lavender is actually what made me choose to use the embossing powder I used, I love that it has a lavender sheen to it when turned certain ways in the light.  It's so pretty in real life!  A simple, yet elegant, wedding card!

Here's what our "A" team has been working on this week:

That's it for me this week, I'll see you next week!  Until then, have a wonderful day!
