Have yourself...

...a merry little kiss-mas!  Who doesn't like a little smooch under the mistletoe?  Did you know this tradition began in 16th century England?  Seems kind of strange for a plant that's a parasite!  It's a pretty parasite, but a parasite, none the less!  Still, it's got a fascinating history for a plant, mythology and folklore has surrounded this plant dating back to the 13th century.  But, enough about that!  LOL!  You're here for a card, not a history lesson!

For my card today I used Dreamweaver Stencil LL 387, Mistletoe.  I paste embossed it with white embossing paste and colored it with Copics once it was dry.  I went over the mistletoe berries with Copic Opaque White and went that dried, I added Inkssentials Glossy Accents to round them off and give them even more dimension.  When the Glossy Accents dried (notice there's a lot of drying time going on here!?), I trimmed my image down to size and edged it with Tim Holtz distress ink in barn red.  For my sentiment I couldn't find one that had a kissing theme so I made my own on my PC!  I printed it off, trimmed it down to size and edged it with more barn door.  I created my card base from Bazzill and used Bo Bunny's Rejoice Collection for my patterned paper.  I added some red May Arts ribbon and layered two pieces of ribbon that I dove-tailed behind the matted embossed piece and sentiment to mimic the ends of the bow on the mistletoe.  So there you have it!  Really very simple but kind of cute!  Oh, and if you look, you'll see that the bottom row of letters on the patterned paper spells mistletoe!  Kinda cool, huh!?

Here's the complete list of all the team members playing along today with some Christmas inspiration just for you.

Thanks for stopping by today and I'll see you here again real soon!  Happy stenciling!

Jumping for Joy...

...on your birthday!  Now how's that for a happy sentiment!?  It sure makes me smile, especially when paired with this adorable Stampendous House-Mouse stamp, Cupcake Jump, and the perfect sentiment, Joy Birthday.  I am just thrilled that Stampendous has added these adorable House-Mouse stamps to the family! Here's my card:

I stamped my image with Memento Tuxedo Black onto Neenah Classic Crest White and colored it with Copic markers. I trimmed it down and matted it on red Bazzill cardstock using my favorite glue, Beacon Zip Dry!  I set that aside and stamped my sentiment, also with Memento, trimmed it down and matted it on Bazzill.  I created my card base with red Bazzill and added this adorable cupcake paper from Doodlebug Design, Inc's Sweet Cakes collection to the base.  The twine is also from Doodlebug, it's their wonderful Doodle Twine in Valentines.  It's perfect with this paper!  Next I just adhered my main image and pop dotted my sentiment on.  That's it!  Pretty cute card, huh?  When you've got awesome images to work with, it's hard not to make cute cards!
That's it for today!  Thanks for stopping by and I hope to you again soon!

We're Hopping Across the Pond!

Welcome to the annual Dreamweaver and Woodware Christmas in August extravaganza week! Monday through Saturday we will be knocking your Christmas stockings off with fun and inspirational ideas for the upcoming holidays. All that you need to do is hop back and forth across the "pond" on each day, oohing and aaahhhing as you go, and leaving us plenty of holiday love. In return, you'll be entered to randomly win one prize package for a UK commenter, and a second prize package for a US commenter, featuring products distributed in the UK by Woodware...including Dreamweaver and Stampendous!

Prize includes four stencils, one die, and two stamps, selection may vary.

My card today was created using Dreamweaver Stencil LM143, Chickadees, pasted embossed with white paste on Neenah Classic Crest Natural White cardstock.  Once it was dry, I colored it with Copic markers.  I colored one bird with more vibrancy than the other as the female is generally more subdued in coloration.  I had no idea when I colored these birds that they were Chickadees and almost colored them the natural colors.  If I had used grays instead of blues on the wings and tail feathers, I would have nailed them without even realizing it!  I trimmed the paste embossed piece to the size I wanted and edged it with Tim Holtz distress ink in Gathered Twigs.  I set it aside and created the card base with Bazzill and Basic Grey's Blitzen Collection.  Using Stampendous Stamps CRH287, Scripty Blessings, I stamped my sentiment with Memento Tuxedo Black on more Neenah.  I trimmed the sentiment down to size, edged it with gathered twigs and matted it on patterned paper.  I adhered the embossed piece to my waiting card, pop dotted the sentiment on and for a final touch, I added three little red dew drops.  A simple, yet elegant, card!

Now's the time for you to leave a comment and move on to the next designer for today:

I hope you've found some inspiration along the way this past week.  I've certainly had fun creating projects to share with you.  I would like to extend my thanks to the wonderful Woodware folks, it has been a complete joy collaborating with them.  Be sure to leave lots of love today so you'll be eligible to win one of our great prizes.  Thank you for stopping by and any comments you leave or have left are appreciated greatly.  I'm sorry I've had to add comment moderation but I was getting hit almost daily by spammers and was afraid someone would fall victim to their shameful tactics.Thank you for understanding the necessity of comment moderation.  I'll see you again soon!  Have a blessed day!

Woodware Fun

Welcome to the annual Dreamweaver and Woodware Christmas in August extravaganza week! Prize includes four stencils, one die, and two stamps, selection may vary.

Today I have a cute little card for you using Dreamweaver Stencil LL 459 Village.  I love this snowy little village as it reminds me of the time I lived in Germany.  Using Dreamweaver's White Embossing Paste, I paste embossed the stencil on a piece of Neenah Natural White cardstock.  Once it was dry, I colored the houses with my Copic markers.  I trimmed it down to the size I wanted and colored the background with my Prismacolor Mediterranean Blue pencil and blended it in with Gamsol. Next I added snow to the houses and the ground with Copic Opaque White and a teeny paintbrush.  Did I stop there?  Nope!  I decided to make it a very snowy day and using a Ranger Inkssentials Cut-n-dry pen nib brush tip, I added more snow just dotting it all over.  Once I finished my stenciled piece, I created my card base from Bazzill, added Little Yellow Bicycle's Winter Twig paper to the base.  I trimmed a piece of LYB's Winterings to mount behind my stenciled piece and adhered both to the card.  Using Stampendous Perfectly Clear Stamp sets Snowman Banners and Holly Bird I stamped my sentiments using Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Neenah White cardstock.  I trimmed the sentiments down, edged them with Tim Holtz distress ink in pumice stone and adhered them to the card, the top one with Beacon Zip Dry and the bottom one with pop dots.

Here's a close-up of three of the houses!

Perfectly Charming!

Have you ever made one of those projects that you just absolutely fall in love with?  I mean crazy in love with it!  This is one of those projects!  I love the new Stampendous SSC1177, Butterfly Charms Perfectly Clear Stamps Set!  It's perfect for so many different uses!  I created a card that I showcased on Tuesday and today I've got a jewelry project to share!

Here I've stamped the butterflies and painted the first coat of DecoArt Dazzling Metallics Peacock Pearl Paint on some washers.  I stamped an extra set of images as a "just in case" but didn't need them.  I colored the butterflies with my Copics and cut them out.  I added a second coat of paint to the washers.  Once the paint was dry I wrapped two pieces of craft wire around each side of each washer wrapping the jump rings against the outer edge of the washers to attach them.

I connected the washers with more jump rings adding pearl charms from Tim Holtz idea-ology Baubles.  Using craft wire I added a pearl charm from the center washer as well.  I attached the chain, added a clasp and completed the process by adding the butterflies on top of the washers.

Here's a picture of it hanging around my daughter's neck.  I am so in love with this necklace!!  It came out exactly as I envisioned it!  I hope you like it. Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you back soon.

Hugs,
Lea

Here's a close up of the sparkle!

I used new Dreamweaver stencil LJ 925, Jumbo Merry Christmas.  I used the double glitter technique with glitters from Stampendous.  I also used SSC1184 - Build A Snowman from their Perfectly Clear Stamps line at Stampendous.  The ribbon is May Arts, the papers are Bazzill and My Mind's Eye.  I love this stencil and I know you will, too!!

Simply B Stamps Monthly Challenge

Today I have a quick post to share with a super sweet mermaid from Simply B Stamps.  Betty offered a challenge with a choice of the "good mermaid" or the "bad (vampy) mermaid."  I chose the "good mermaid!"  Here's my card:

And here's a close up to show some of the sparkly goodness!

I love all the sparkly shimmer from the paper and from the paint I used to accent the image.  My card base is Bazzill Bling and my patterned papers are from SEI's Couture Collection.  I thought the one paper looked like bunches of bubbles and was perfect for this image.  My image is colored with Copics and then accented with DecoArt's Glamour Dust paints in Aqua and Silver Bling.  The picture just doesn't do the sparkle justice!  The paints are so pretty in real life!  I completed the card with some May Arts Ribbon that, hopefully, looks like seaweed.  Thanks, Betty, for the great image and the opportunity to play along in your monthly challenge!  Thanks for stopping by!

Lea

It's the most...

...wonderful time of the year!  Sort of!  That's right, Dreamweaver Stencils is celebrating Christmas in August!  We want to make sure you have plenty of time to create your crafty Christmas cards and there's no time like the present to get started!  Here's my creation:

Using Dreamweaver Stencil LJ 897 Rhinestone Wreath, I taped it down and stenciled in my ink color with a 1/8" Dreamweaver stenciling brush.  Once I was finished adding the ink, I used Dreamweaver Translucent Embossing Paste over just the wreath portion of the stamp.  I let that paste dry, taped the stencil back down covering the wreath portion and using Matte Black Embossing Paste, I paste embossed the sentiment.  I set it aside a second time to dry and once it was completely dry, I trimmed it down to the size I wanted.  Using Bazzill, I created my card base, my patterned papers are from My Mind's Eye and my ribbon is May Arts.  My inks I used were Memento.  I really like the simplicity of this card.  Not too plain, not too fussy, just right!  Here's the list of lovely ladies playing today, be sure to leave some love!

Heads up!  We're jumping across the pond next week for another blog collaboration!

Hopping the day away...

...it's Friday Hop Day!  Woohoo!

It's fun in the sun time again with another collaboration between Stampendous and Dreamweaver Stencils! We'll be playing together all of this week, with a fabulous hop on Friday, August 2nd, featuring a slew of amazing talent from both teams, and of course...prizes!!!

Two prize packages will be given away for the comments left on posts Monday-Thursday, July 29th - August 1st, and one prize will be given away for comments left on the hop day, Friday, August 2nd. Winners will be selected randomly and announced Thursday, August 8th. (Note: USA addresses only, please, due to shipping costs.) Here's what you could win:

Stampendous Surfer and Sandcastle Kiddos • Dreamweaver Hot Air Balloon, Ice Cream Cones, Summer, Mosaic Swirls, Bird Words, and Sandcastle stencils

 Here's what I created:

I love summertime weddings!  I decided to go for a more simple yet (hopefully) elegant look today!  I used Dreamweaver Stencil LL3034 Your Wedding and pasted it with matte black embossing paste.  Once dry I cut it out with a Spellbinder die and set it aside.  I trimmed a piece of white cardstock to the size I wanted and using Stampendous Zinnia stamp, I stamped it randomly on the cs with my Boss Gloss ink.  Next I heat embossed it with Kaleidoscope Embossing Powder and set it aside.  I used my VersaMark marker to highlight just part of the flourishes on my stenciled piece, then added Kaleidoscop EP on it and quickly heated it being careful not to bubble my paste.  Once that was done I created my card base from black cardstock, added a bit of May Arts silk ribbon to my white panel and adhered the two.  Using some pop dots, I attached my sentiment and, voila!, a simple card for that special couple getting married!  I added the two close-up photos so you can, hopefully, see the sparkle!  This is so pretty in real life and the pictures never seem to capture the true beauty of the sparkle!

Now, hop on over to the next in line. Don't forget to leave some love for a chance to win, and just 'cuz it's nice!

Thanks so much for joining those of us at Stampendous and Dreamweaver for this week long collaboration.  I hope you've enjoyed it and been inspired along the way. I appreciate all the wonderful comments you've left this past week, it's heartwarming to read them and know you've enjoyed my work.   I'll have more projects for you soon so be sure to check back in next week.  See you soon!

Stamping the night away...

...or maybe I should say stenciling!

It's fun in the sun time again with another collaboration between Stampendous and Dreamweaver Stencils! We'll be playing together all of this week, with a fabulous hop on Friday, August 2nd, featuring a slew of amazing talent from both teams, and of course...prizes!!!

Stampendous Surfer and Sandcastle Kiddos • Dreamweaver Hot Air Balloon, Ice Cream Cones, Summer, Mosaic Swirls, Bird Words, and Sandcastle stencils

 Here's what I created:

This card was a lot of fun to create as I love the silhouette look with the black matte embossing paste using LL 379 Tall Palm Trees!  I knew I wanted to do a sunset sky with several Memento colors fading into a darker blue but I needed to know where to place everything.  To accomplish this, I laid the stencil down and using a pencil, I lightly traced the design onto my paper.  I removed the stencil and stippled and sponged my color on in all the right spots!  I put the stencil back on the paper making sure my lines matched up and pasted it with my black paste.  Once dry, I trimmed it down and then I looked at my sun that was black.  I thought, hmmm, unless there's an eclipse going on, my sun needs to be yellow.  I pulled out my Stampendous Yellow Ultra Fine Pastel Glitter and discovered it was the perfect shade for my sun.  Of course I realized that putting the light yellow glitter over black might not give me the coverage I really wanted so I used my white Sharpie poster paint pen and covered the sun portion with white.  Once it dried I add my glitter with some Zip Dry.  My card base is black CS I purchased at Michaels and my patterned paper is part of the Graphic 45 Happy Haunting Collection.  The sentiment is a partial sentiment from the Sandy Kiddos Digital Download set from Stampendous!

Now, hop on over to the next in line. Don't forget to leave some love for a chance to win, and just 'cuz it's nice!

That's it for today!  Tomorrow is the BIG HOP with lots of inspiration.  Make sure to participate and comment to win!  Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you tomorrow!

Hugs,
Lea
