Bear-y Happy Birthday!

We have a different sort of collaboration for you!

At Stampendous we’re very excited to be able to offer our products in many countries around the world. We’re able to do this thanks to our terrific distributors in those countries who help retail stores to stock our products. In the UK we have a very long and valued partnership with Woodware Craft Collection. These wonderful folks stock almost all of our products, and they even stock several classic items that have retired from our store here in the US. They also stock almost all of our new Dreamweaver Stencils line, so we thought it would be another great event to celebrate the addition of Dreamweaver to the Stampendous family.

This week we’re going to celebrate with the awesome Woodware Design Team and the Dreamweaver Stencils Dream Team as we showcase some of the the great Stampendous and Dreamweaver Stencils products that Woodware makes available to the UK market. This is good news for our crafty friends in the UK because we’ll be offering prizes and our UK friends are eligible to win!! We’ll be offering three prizes in the UK and three in the US. Each prize package will consist of Nathalie Kalbach’s terrific Grunge Mixed Media Cling Rubber Stamp Sets and the beautiful Zen Butterfly Dreamweaver Stencil! Both products are ideal for adding texture and backgrounds to your projects!  Deadline to comment is Sunday, March 29th, Pacific Time. Winners will be picked using random.org and announced Tuesday, March 31st, in the afternoon.

And that’s our theme!! Making Texture. We hope you’ll enjoy the wonderful inspiration that three talented teams will bring you this week! Be sure to visit all the blog links listed and leave your comments! Each comment will count as an entry towards one of the terrific prize packages.  Here's the first of my two projects for today:

And, here's my second project today with plenty of texture for your tactile enjoyment!  If only you could reach through the internet and feel the canvas!  I've named this piece "Nathalie's Garden" since it's made using all stamps from our friendly artist, Nathalie Kalbach.

  2. Repeat the same process for applying the "leaves"
  3. Take VersaMarker and draw lines to apply embossing powder for "stems"

Hummingbird, Don't Fly Away

If I could be a bird, I would want to be a Hummingbird.  They're colorful, cute and they have a serious sweet tooth.  That's my kind of bird!!  Have you checked out all the beautiful Stampendous Hummingbird projects my teammates have posted this week?  If you haven't, you really should go check them out, lots of gorgeousness.  I chose to go very mixed media for mine.  Paints, inks, crunchy goodness, oh yeah!  Here's my card for today:

Here's an angled view of the glittery goodness I've added to my card:

Here's what I've used to create this card:

Twinkling H2O's in Key Lime, Sunflower and Pink Azalea
DecoArt® Traditions Hansa Yellow Acrylic Paint
DecoArt® Glamour Dust Glitter Paint in Aqua
Americana® Yellow Green Acrylic Paint
Americana® Hauser Light Green Acrylic Paint
Americana® Multi Surface Satin™ in Sky Blue
Liquitex® Inks in Quinacridone Magenta and Transparent Burnt Umber
Neenah® Classic Crest™ Solar White Cover Stock
Magenta Cardstock by Bazzill Basics Paper®
Jet Black Archival Ink™ by Ranger®
Beacon® 3-in-1 Paper Glue

Here's what I did to create this card:

  • I started off by adding some Sky Blue and Aqua paints to my Creative Palette, brayered it out, stamped my Mish Mesh stamps into the paint and printed my paper
  • I set the paper aside to dry but since I'm impatient, I dried it with my heat tool
  • Next I stamped my images onto the printed paper
  • I put dabs of yellow and green paints onto my paint palette and misted them with water to create a wash and added my greens and yellow paint to the images
  • In a small plastic container, I added one drop of magenta acrylic ink and added it to my flowers and bird
  • Once I had my dark pinks painted on, I spritzed the ink with water and thinned it down then added my lighter magenta to the flowers and bird as shown
  • I watered down just a tiny drop of the burnt umber and added it to the bird
  • Realizing that some Hummingbirds are somewhat iridescent, I decided to go over the bird only with the Twinkling H2O's
  • Next I created my card base with a tent fold
  • I trimmed my painted piece to fit on my card base as shown
  • I stamped my sentiment in black ink and adhered the image to the card base
  • It was time to play mad scientist and mix my glitters and fragments into a fun mix and I adhered the yumminess to my card with glue

I seriously love how this card turned out!  There's not a single element to it that I don't like.  I've been taking the Creative Jumpstart 2015 on-line workshop on Nathalie Kalbach's N*Studio blog and the various lessons have really inspired me and taught me some new tricks.  If you haven't signed up, it's not too late, you can sign up any time now.  It's so worth it! For this piece, I really think the glitter and fragment mix was the perfect finishing touch!  Here's the list with my teammates that are playing along today, I hope you'll check them out:

Lea Kimmel (me)

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope I've inspired you to pull out some stamps, paint, ink and fun embellishments for some weekend play.  Whip out that Creative Palette and spread some paint for lots of creative fun; the possibilities are endless!  Have a wonderful day and I'll see you again soon!

Hugs,
Lea

Happy Birthday to You, Too!

Here's what I used to create this card:

My Mind's Eye™ Fine and Dandy™ 6x6 Paper Pad
Flamingo Cardstock by Bazzill Basics Paper®
Neenah® Classic Crest™ Solar White Cover Stock
Copic® Markers - E000, 00, 04, 11, 15, 18, 19, 21, 25, 27, 29, 51, 53; YR14, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27, 30, 31; YG11, 13, 93, 95, 97; R20, 24, 29, 30, 32, 35; BG53, 57; B0000; C0, 1

Trim patterned papers as shown
Adhere all layers as shown
Add Stickles™randomly on both image and sentiment, set aside to dry

Art Anthology Hop

Today is the last day of our hop with our new friends at Art Anthology! We are in love with their cool paints and sprays, they’re just the perfect combo for the great mixed media projects our Stampendous Design Team has been making!
There are three amazing prize packages this week consisting of a Stampendous Creative Palette Monoprinting Plate, a $20 Stampendous Reward Card to spend on the Stampendous website, an Art Anthology Stencil, and one each Dimensional CrystalColorations Spray, and Dimensional Paint from Art Anthology (colors are random). Wow!! Now that’s something to slip under the tree for yourself! (PLUS – a little reindeer told us that Art Anthology will be giving away EVEN MORE paints and goodies over on their blog!!)
AND we’re celebrating the man in red! He’s checking the harnesses for those magic reindeer! It would sure be great if you found this prize package under your tree, wouldn’t it??!! Our Art Anthology hop has featured Santa in many posts this week. We’ve been the hardest working Design Team in show business!!  Thanks for joining us for some great fun and inspiration this week, oh, and a chance to win one of the great prizes!  Have you been leaving comments along the way?
My card from yesterday was definitely NOT Christmas or winter themed so today's card is all about winter!  Here's my project:

Here's what I used to create this card:

Stampendous® Snowflake Tree Rubber Stamp
Stampendous® Chunky White Embossing Enamel
VersaMark™ Watermark Ink Pad by Tsukineko®
Art Anthology Sorbet Dimensional Paint - Buttercream
Art Anthology Dimensional Crystal Glaze - Mermaid
Art Anthology Colorations Spray - Grape Soda
Liquitex® Professional Acrylic Ink - Transparent Burnt Umber
Strathmore® Mixed Media Paper
Turquoise and Brown Cardstock by Bazzill Basics Paper™
Ranger® Archival Ink - Coffee
Ranger® Archival Ink - Aquamarine
Zip Dry™ Paper Glue by Beacon® Adhesives

Here's what I did to create this card:

  1. Stamp tree onto mixed media paper with coffee ink and another with aquamarine ink
  2. Mix Mermaid glaze with a bit of Grape Soda spray to create a slightly more blue color and paint a sky for the background
  3. Mix Buttercream paint with a bit of Grape Soda spray along with a tiny amount of burnt umber ink to create a brown paint and go over main trunk of tree to darken it
  4. Trim painted piece to card size
  5. Cut out snowflake circles from aquamarine tree and edge each circle with aquamarine ink
  6. Adhere circles to corresponding circles on painted tree
  7. Rub VersaMark pad across bottom of trimmed piece, add chunky white embossing enamel and heat from underneath until enamel melts
  8. Trim brown cardstock as a mat for stamped and painted image
  9. Create an A-2 card base with a tent fold
  10. Adhere all layers as shown

This was probably one of the fastest cards I've ever created!  I love the simple design.  It's really neat how easily the various paints, glazes and sprays mix together and expand your color repertoire.  All it takes is some very basic color mixing.  I do want to say that I absolutely love the shimmer in these paints.  They're truly very lovely!  Here's the rest of the team's links for today:

Sparkle!

This is an art journal double-page spread that I thought I would share.  I really like how it turned out. Originally it was just the right side but after giving it some thought, I decided to add the left side as well.  I like to sketch when I have time, usually late at night when I'm sitting in bed.  The mood just comes over me and I have something in my head I just have to get out.  For this one, I was itching to use my Derwent Inktense Pencils.  Have you even seen a watercolor pencil that's this vibrant?!  I love them!

My sentiment on here is subtle as I didn't want it to be the focal point.  I wanted my young lady to have an ethereal glow and the whole page to have a magical quality.  I think it does!

On top of my Inktense Pencils, I also used Stickles, a Copic Multiliner, Ranger Inkssentials white opaque gel pen, a gold gel pen and a Copic atyouSpica glitter pen in clear.  Oh, and a #2 pencil!

Thanks for stopping by and having a look!  I'll see you again on Wednesday when it's time to get Wicked!  Have a wonderful Monday!

Hugs,
Lea

Dreamweaver and Woodware...

Yes! It's that time of year again! The time when we inspire crafters on both sides of the "pond" with a mix of both Dreamweaver and Woodware UK* products for the holidays! Six days, SIX, of beautiful, elegant, merry, cute, artsy, and craftsy projects to have you heading out to your local stores or internet sites to buy these goodies immediately!

Of course, there will be prizes as well. Three prize packages will be given to three commenters during this week's posts on the team's blogs, including five stencils and one nested die set. You can have an opportunity to win these goodies by leaving some holiday sweetness for each team member posting each day, to be one of the three winners for the week. Here are the team members that are inspiring you today:

Here's my creation:

Here's what I used to create this card:

Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink Pad
Ranger® Glossy Accents
Neenah® Classic Crest™ Solar White Cover Stock
Red Cardstock
Green Cardstock
May Arts Ribbon®
Beacon Adhesives® Zip Dry™
Scrapbook Adhesives™ 3D Foam Squares™
Spectrum Noir Markers:
  • IG1,
  • DR6,
  • CR7, CR9, CR11
  • CG4
  • DG2, DG3
  • JG5
  • FS1, FS2
  • BG1, BG2, BG3, BG4, BG5, BG6, BG7

Here's what I did to create this card:

Stamp image onto white cs by stamping off (stamp once, then stamp again for a lighter image)
Color image with markers and trim, add glossy accents on eye and berries, set aside to dry
Paste emboss stencil and set aside to dry
Create card base and trim red mat for embossed piece
Stamp sentiment and trim mats, adhere together and set aside
Trim ribbon piece to fit across and wrap around red cs, set aside
Once paste has dried, trim to fit and color raised portions with markers as shown
Adhere all layers as shown
Mount bird onto card with foam squares

I did try to keep my little Robin as close in coloring to the real thing as I could, even though the image is very whimsical.  Whimsy is just a cute reflection of real life anyway!  As soon as I saw this adorable little bird, I knew I had to use this stencil with him.  They were just meant to be together!  The Spectrum Noir markers glide right over the pearlescent paste since the finish is so glossy and smooth.  Sure makes it fun to color the stencil and you don't have to worry about ruining the nibs!  Since Spectrum Noir has an awesome nature inspired monthly challenge going, I'm going to submit my card for their challenge as well.  Gives it double duty!

Thanks for stopping by today and having a look!  I hope you'll remember to comment to be eligible to win a prize!  I'll see you again soon.  Have a blessed day!

Hugs,
Lea

A Little Fun in the Sun

This week Stampendous® is celebrating summer with some of the cutest little critters around!  My card today is created with Gruffies® Beachy Bears!  I absolutely love these little bears; they are adorable!  Here's my card:

Here's what I used to create this card:

Faber-Castell® Gelatos®
Ranger® Archival Ink™ in Jet Black
Canson® Watercolor Paper
Little Yellow Bicycle® Hello Spring
May Arts Ribbon®
Bazzill® Cardstock
Viva® Pearl Pen in Ice White
Beacon Adhesive® Zip Dry™
Water Brush

Here's what I did to create this card:

Stamp image on watercolor paper and color with water brush and Gelatos®
(here's a hint, I scribble my Gelatos® onto the inside of a page protector I've cut open and use that as a palette, I pick up the color with my water brush)
Trim image to desired size
Create card base and mat for image from Bazzill®
Trim patterned paper to fit as shown
Trim length of ribbon to wrap around patterned paper and create bow
Adhere ribbon to patterned paper and then adhere patterned paper to card base
Adhere image to mat and then adhere matted image to center of card base
Attach bow with a dot of glue
Squiggle on the "sunscreen" with the Pearl Pen and set aside to dry

So there you have it, a cute and simple card that's fun to create!  I hope you've enjoyed viewing my card and maybe it has inspired you to create your own!  Thanks for stopping by!  Have a blessed day!

Hugs,
Lea

Decorate with DecoArt and Stampendous!

                      2014_06_decoart

WELCOME - to our weeklong blog collaboration with DecoArt Paints, Princeton Artist Brushes, and inspired by Willow Wolfe. If you missed Monday's excitement, here's the LINK. DecoArt creates so many fantastic paint products, our team was excited to try so many! We know you'll be stunned when you see what these great products add to your stamping! When you combine them with Princeton Artist Brushes and Catalyst Wedges used on the Stampendous Creative Palette, well WOW!

While Debbie Cole, CDA is an expert at adding paint to your stamped creations, the real excitement happens when she shows Decorative Painters how to use stamps to minimize their prep time in astonishing ways! In fact, she's made a series of five videos featuring the Stampendous Creative Palette and DecoArt paints. You can check them out on our YouTube channel here! Here's my project for today:

In normal lighting

Lights off with some outdoor light coming through

Lights off and exterior lighting blocked

I loved using the glow in the dark paint on this project!  The paint absorbs the light and then gives off this fantastic glow and these were taken rather soon after applying all the paint.  If I had waited to take the photos another day, the stars and moon would have been even brighter.  This idea just popped into my head over the weekend and I had to use this stamp with this paint, it was screaming at me, begging me to!  The Twisted Tree stamp isn't available on the Stampendous site just yet but it's possible it may already be in your local stamp store.  It will be available on the Stampendous site beginning July 6th.

Here's what I used to create this project:

Stampendous® Stamps Twisted Tree (Available July 6, 2014 on-line, may already be in your LSS)
DecoArt® Americana™ Glow in the Dark Paint
DecoArt® Americana™ Paints in Navy Blue, Burnt Umber, Snow (Titanium) White, Pineapple, Flesh Tone, French Vanilla, Hauser Light Green
DecoArt® Traditions™ Paint in Carbon Black
Ranger® Archival Ink™ in Jet Black
Artist's Loft™ 6"x6" Canvas Board
Circle Die
Neenah® Classic Crest™ Solar White Cover Stock
Scotch® Double-Sided Tape

Here's what I did to create this project:

Chose a circle die the size of the moon you want to create and cut it
Decide where you wish to place the moon and adhere die-cut circle with tape to canvas
Paint sky first being sure to leave room at the bottom for grass
Remove die-cut piece and dry paint with heat gun
Paint moon next and dry, one you've dried the paint, go back and add glow in the dark paint, dry
Paint grass at bottom and dry
Ink image and stamp onto canvas being sure to press hard to get the best impression
Paint details of stamp, heat dry
Add "stars" with glow in the dark paint

Artists from all over the world are playing with us this week. Prepare to be amazed! Of course, there are prizes!
