    Inspiration Winged Cross

This week at Stampendous®, we're featuring our beautiful cross images, I think these are perfect for the Easter season.  For my project, I've used Winged Cross.  I have to admit, it's my favorite!  I have a collection of angels and a collections of crosses so this kind of combines the two!  I've used the Fran•táge technique on this card with lots of crusties and texture.  It's so much fun to create this way!  So here's my card with details below:

Here's what I used to create this card:

    Stampendous® R189 Winged Cross
    Stampendous® Gold Encrusted Jewel Kit
    Stampendous® Champagne PEARLustre™ Embossing Powder
    Stampendous® Boss Gloss
    VersaMarker™ by Tsukineko® Memento™ London Fog Ink by Tsukineko®
Antique Linen, Pumice Stone, & Vintage Photo Distress Ink by Ranger®
Kraft Reflections Paper by Graphic 45®
Clear Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint by Ranger®
Silver Bling Glamour Dust Paint by DecoArt®
    Copic® Markers - W1, W2, W4, W5, E33, E34, E35, E37
Multi-Medium Matte by Claudine Hellmuth Studio
ZipDry™ Paper Glue by Beacon Adhesives®

Here's how I created this card:

Stamp R189 Winged Cross on white with Memento Ink.
    Color image with Copics.
Paint wings with Silver Bling paint, set aside to dry.
Trim image closely and distress edges with distresser tool.
Create card base from Bazzill in a tent fold and distress sides and bottom of front only.
Trim patterned paper to mat image and distress edges.
Add antique linen distress ink all around image.
Add pumice stone distress ink around outer edges going in close to the image but not all the way.
Add vintage photo distress ink just to distressed edges of all papers.
Adhere image to patterned paper with Zip Dry and curl corners of image piece slightly.
Sponge Boss Gloss around card randomly and add Aged Gold EP and heat.
Using VersaMarker, outline swirls on image, add Champagne Pearl EP and heat.
Randomly sprinkle Aged Gold EP and heat from underneath.
    Randomly dot on distress stain.
Adhere image and patterned paper to card base.
Add crackle paint to cross and let it dry.

That's it for today, I hope you've enjoyed my project and that it has inspired you to create your own!  Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you again soon.  Have a blessed day!

    You Are Sunlight...

Get ready for an amazing week of Awesome in Autumn! This week we are playing with the Quietfire Design team, and are so excited to play with their amazing images and sentiments. In their beautiful calligraphic style, their quotes and thoughts are the perfect addition to our Dreamweaver designs. Follow along with us, and leave your comments for an opportunity to win one of two wonderful prize packages:

Cock-a-doodle-dooooo!  I love roosters!  I think they're comical to watch as they strut around the yard!  My great-grandmother had several and most of them were mean but there was one in particular that liked to follow my cousins and me around the yard.  He would even let us pet him but there was no way he would let us pick him up!  I miss those summer days of my youth when the world was still so big and something as simple as a rooster following me around a yard was the highlight of my day!  Boy those days are long gone but they are and always will be "sunlight to my heart."

This Dreamweaver Stencil, LG753, Crowing Rooster, brought back so many memories of days spent in the country that I wanted to give my card a country feel.  I had these great papers from Graphic 45's French Country Collection that are perfect for this card.  My card base is Bazzill.  I stamped my Quietfire Design sentiment, You are Sunlight, with Memento Tuxedo Black on Neenah Classic Crest and also used Neenah for my stencil inked with ClearSnap's ColorBox fluid chalk ink pads in Autumn Pastels and Primary Pastels.  The colors were perfect with my patterned papers!  I dabbed on some Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Antique Linen on both my image and my sentiment.  I edged my sentiment with his Aged Mahogany Distress Ink. Once I had most of my pieces rounded on the corners, layered and adhered with Beacon Zip Dry, I added some glue to the sun and then added Art Glitter's Challis UltraFine Opaque Hologram Glitter over the glue for a little added sparkle!  Using pop dots I finished it off by adding my sentiment to the card and for the ultimate country feel, I added three buttons with glue dots.  Very simple, very country, kinda cute!

So here are the others playing along today with awesome inspiration for your viewing pleasure!  Be sure to leave some love to be entered to win one of our prize packs.

Thanks for stopping by today and I'll see you back here tomorrow for the big blog hop!

    Hugs,
    Lea

    Stamping the night away...

...or maybe I should say stenciling!

It's fun in the sun time again with another collaboration between Stampendous and Dreamweaver Stencils! We'll be playing together all of this week, with a fabulous hop on Friday, August 2nd, featuring a slew of amazing talent from both teams, and of course...prizes!!!

Two prize packages will be given away for the comments left on posts Monday-Thursday, July 29th - August 1st, and one prize will be given away for comments left on the hop day, Friday, August 2nd. Winners will be selected randomly and announced Thursday, August 8th. (Note: USA addresses only, please, due to shipping costs.) Here's what you could win:

Stampendous Surfer and Sandcastle Kiddos • Dreamweaver Hot Air Balloon, Ice Cream Cones, Summer, Mosaic Swirls, Bird Words, and Sandcastle stencils

     Here's what I created:

This card was a lot of fun to create as I love the silhouette look with the black matte embossing paste using LL 379 Tall Palm Trees!  I knew I wanted to do a sunset sky with several Memento colors fading into a darker blue but I needed to know where to place everything.  To accomplish this, I laid the stencil down and using a pencil, I lightly traced the design onto my paper.  I removed the stencil and stippled and sponged my color on in all the right spots!  I put the stencil back on the paper making sure my lines matched up and pasted it with my black paste.  Once dry, I trimmed it down and then I looked at my sun that was black.  I thought, hmmm, unless there's an eclipse going on, my sun needs to be yellow.  I pulled out my Stampendous Yellow Ultra Fine Pastel Glitter and discovered it was the perfect shade for my sun.  Of course I realized that putting the light yellow glitter over black might not give me the coverage I really wanted so I used my white Sharpie poster paint pen and covered the sun portion with white.  Once it dried I add my glitter with some Zip Dry.  My card base is black CS I purchased at Michaels and my patterned paper is part of the Graphic 45 Happy Haunting Collection.  The sentiment is a partial sentiment from the Sandy Kiddos Digital Download set from Stampendous!

Now, hop on over to the next in line. Don't forget to leave some love for a chance to win, and just 'cuz it's nice!

That's it for today!  Tomorrow is the BIG HOP with lots of inspiration.  Make sure to participate and comment to win!  Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you tomorrow!

    Hugs,
    Lea

    All aboard!

Hi all!  Today I have a Stampendous Sketch Challenge card to share with you.  If you haven't played along with our weekly sketch on Splitcoast Stampers you should give it whirl!  Here's a copy of the SC396 sketch for this week:

Now, here's my take on it:

I've actually had this paper for a while just waiting for the opportunity to use it with just the right stamp and sketch.  So here are the deets on my card!  I used Railroad Poster from Stampendous as my image that I stamped with Jet Black Staz-On onto Neenah's natural paper and then distressed the edge with the Tim Holtz distressing tool and distress inks, Vintage Photo and Tea Dye.  The base of my card is Bazzill, my patterned papers are K and Company and Graphic 45.  I also added some Tea Stained Mica Fragments and Bronze Crushed Glass Glitter, both from Stampendous, as a little extra bling.  Here's a close-up:

I have to say that masculine cards are always challenging to me.  I love bling and flowers and ribbon and those things don't generally mix with "masculine" cards.  Also on Splitcoast Stampers is another challenge, Dare to Get Dirty 12 (DTGD12) and I'm using this card for the DTGD12Twinshappy challenge.  If you want more details, you should go to the challenge forum and check it out!

Also, I realize I'm a little late announcing this but life has kind of gotten in the way the past few days and things don't always go as planned!  Does that ever happen to you?  There may be some of you wondering who won my blog candy from last week's Stampendous New Release Week.  I'm happy to announce that JenGD is my lucky winner.  Wondering what she won?  It was a secret!  Here's what she won:

So, JenGD, I hope you like your prizes, please leave me your e-mail addy so I may contact you.  That's it for today.  Hope you like my card and will check back again soon.  Thanks for stopping by!

    Hugs!

    Trick or Treat!

Yes, I know it isn't Halloween yet, however, when you have an image this cute, you wish it was!  It's Release Week at Stampendous and boy do we have some cute images to share with you.  I love the new Stampendous Kiddos; they are just totally adorable!  Here's my card for today:

Cling Kitty Candy Kiddo and Cling Autumn Words are the new images I've used for this card and I love them both!  I stamped the kiddo stamp on Neenah with Memento and colored it with Copics.  Next I stamped the image again without reinking on a piece of scrap paper that I cut out to use for a mask.  Once my kiddo image was masked, I stamped the background stamp over her.  I trimmed my image and used Antique Linen and Rusty Hinge Tim Holtz distress inks on my stamped images.  I added a length of ribbon that I poked a hole through with a jump ring and then added the Tim Holtz Halloween token that says Jack O' Lantern.  I thought that was just the perfect touch for this card, what do you think?

The base of my card is Bazzill, the patterned papers are Graphic 45's Happy Haunting.  My ribbon is May Arts.  I also used the Drippy Goo edge punch from Martha Stewart.  I think that makes the jack-o-lanterns look a little like they are melting into the clock paper.  A fun card for sure!

Don't forget I have secret surprise blog candy to give away this week but the winner must comment on my blog posts at least three days this week.  A few of my teammates are showing off new products from Stampendous as well! Not only do some of them have their own blog candy, Stampendous will be drawing a winner for this great prize pack.

How do you win it? It's easy! One of the featured bloggers today will be choosing a random commenter from her blog, and that lucky person will be announced on the Stampendous blog tomorrow. The more places you leave a comment, the better your chances are to win! Below is the list of team members who are sharing inspiration today:

    Taylor Usry (has blog candy)
Janelle Stollfus (has additional blog candy)

    Who's New?

Steampunk Owl!  That's who!  What's new?  Tons of cool stamps at Stampendous!  Yay!  This week those of us on the design team are sharing a few of our newest stamps with you just to whet your appetite and leave you wanting more.  Hmmm...almost mean, huh?  I said almost!

I'm so excited about this release that I'm going to do a first, I'm going to offer up some secret surprise blog candy.  Now, here's the deal, in order for you to be eligible for MY blog candy, you need to comment on at least three of my posts this week.  No comments, no candy!  Stampendous is offering up daily prizes but you have to comment to be eligible for those too.

So, without further ado, here's my card for today:

This is the new Cling Steampunk Owl, isn't he absolutely owl-some!?  I love this image and if you're an owl fan, I'm sure you will too!  I stamped him in Memento's Rich Cocoa on Bazzill and colored him in with Copics.  Using my VersaMark pad I also stamped some watch and clock faces from Time Flies and Steampunk Gears and embossed the images with clear EP.  I layered my image piece on black Bazzill and added those layers to  my base of Bazzill and patterned papers from KaiserCraft (the black and gray) and Graphic 45 (the clocks).  Next I threw on a little Fran•táge with a mix of Aged Taupe, Aged Copper and Chunky Black embossing enamels along with a smidge of Tea Stained Mica Fragments.  A simple card, but, oh so fun to create!  Here's another view that shows the Fran•táge elements a little better:

So, just to recap, if you want to be entered for my blog candy, you know what to do!  If you want to be entered to win the daily prize from Stampendous, well, you have to comment to be eligible for that too!  A few of my teammates are showing off new products from Stampendous as well!  Some of them have their own blog candy, too. Stampendous will be drawing a winner for this great prize pack.

One more time, how do you win it? It's easy! One of the featured bloggers today will be choosing a random commenter from her blog, and that lucky person will be announced on the Stampendous blog tomorrow. The more places you leave a comment, the better your chances are to win! Below is the list of team members who are sharing inspiration today:

    Stampendous Challenge Time!

Some days you just need to stop and smell the roses!  Dial it down a notch or two and enjoy some crafty time.  That's what I did with this week's Stampendous Monthly Challenge.  I had been wanting to try the new no line stamping technique where you stamp your image in a light color of ink.  When you color the image in with your markers, the lines pretty much disappear and it looks like you've drawn the image yourself.  Pretty cool, huh?  This was my first attempt with the technique and I'm pretty pleased with the results.  Rather than make this into a card I decided to make some wall art for my stamp room.  I've always had a thing for roses so when Stampendous came out with this Jumbo Cling Cottage Rose set, I pretty much swooned and knew I had to have it!  So here's the list of challenge players for today:

    Lea Kimmel (That's me!)
    Pam Hornshu
    Susie Moore
    Taylor Usry
    Melinda Gleissner
    Stephanie Lee
    Jennifer Ingle

And we want YOU to play along with us! Simply make a gift, gift set (could be cards, could be an altered item), or a gift card holder of some sort and add the direct link for your project to our collection at the end of this post (or on the Stampendous blog) no later than Thursday, May 31 at 11:59 PM EST . You do not have to use Stampendous products, but we sure love it when you do! As an extra incentive for playing along, one lucky crafter (drawn at random) will receive this fabulous new Cling Jumbo Tropical Garden stamp set:

Due to shipping restrictions, the winner must have a US address. We hope you have a chance to play along with us (you an enter as many times as you'd like!) this month...Happy Crafting!

    Hugs,
    Lea
