How Do You Create Christmas?

Hello!  The Stampendous Design Team is sharing cards this week on how we Create Christmas, well, the cards and paper crafts anyway!  My card today is a very simple with a bit of a mixed media style. I've used products from companies that we collaborate or partner with yearly, including Tombow, Faber-Castell and Tsukineko.  Each of the companies listed below has been so very generous with our team and I sure appreciate their generosity!

Here's what I used to create this card:

Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink Pad by Tsukineko®
Tombow® Recycled Color Pencils:  03, Yellow;  04, Chrome Yellow;  05, Yellow Ochre;  32, Vandyke Brown;  10, Deep Green
Faber-Castell® PITT Artist Pen, White - 101
Radiant Neon® #71 Electric Yellow Pigment Ink Refill by Tsukineko®
Radiant Neon® Amplify™ White by Tsukineko®
Blue Cardstock by Bazzill Basics Paper®
Zip Dry™ Paper Glue by Beacon Adhesives

Here's what I did to create this card:

Stamp tree and star on white paper, color and die cut
Add Amplify™ to tree and heat
Create an A2 card base with a tent fold from blue cardstock
Using white PITT pen, add "snow" to bottom of card front
Lay star face down, squirt out a small drop of yellow ink and using a small paintbrush, spread ink around star on card front
Remove star from card front and fill in star with additional ink and create "tails"
Adhere star to card front
Put a small amount of glue on finger tip, swipe across bottom of card in a few places and add glitter
Adhere tree to card front

I had fun creating snow on the tree with Amplify™ from Tsukineko!  I love the texture it adds and it's incredibly easy to use.  Would love to know what you think about how it looks, too!  Here's the rest of the team playing along today:

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I'll see you again next week with more stamping inspiration. Have a wonderful weekend!

Hugs,
Lea

Going Green

It's Wicked Wednesday ATC Challenge Blog time and this week our sponsor is Oddball Art Co. with a theme of Going Green.  For my ATC I've used the image Purdy Butterfly.  I have to admit, the very first thing I thought of when I saw this image was that age-old question many females ask their friends or their fellas, "Does this make my butt/ass look big?"  I joked about it with the rest of the DT and they all thought I should really use that on my ATC.  Well, who am I to disappoint my team?!  It had to be done, I HAD to use it!  So I did.  I do hope you're not offended and, if you are, I'm terribly sorry but it's really all in fun!  When you read it, just use your best Southern voice and you'll understand why it cracked me up!

Here's what I used to create this ATC:

Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cover Stock
Faber-Castell PITT Pen, Black Medium Point
Copic Markers:  E04, 21, 42, 43, 44, 47, 49, 50, 51, 53; R17, 20; YG01, 03, 05, 07, 11, 13, 17, 63; G03, 05, 07, 09, 28; C1
Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Mowed Lawn
Stickles Glitter Glue in Firefly, Green, Lime Green & Christmas Red
Beacon Adhesive 3-in-1 Craft Glue

Here's what I did to create this ATC:

Print image and trim down to ATC size
Color image and edge with distress ink
On scrap of paper, write sentiment and cut out each word
Edge each word with YG13 marker and adhere to ATC
Mix fragments and glitters, add glue randomly around edges of ATC and sprinkle on mixture
Add glitter glue to wings and a few dots in her hair
Add glitter glue to heart

I absolutely loved creating this ATC, partly because of the fun, tongue-in-cheek sentiment but also because I absolutely love green.  Any shade of green will do but lime is my favorite.  We would love for you to join us for our challenge.  Thanks for stopping by today and I hope to see you again soon.  In the meantime, have a blessed day.

Hugs,
Lea

Love Is In the Air

Ready for fresh air, sunshine, new leaves, and flowers blooming? Well, the Dream Team is right there with you! Our challenge for the month of March is...coincidentally...Marching into Spring. Per usual, we'd love to have you play along with us, and link your own creations to the Inlinkz tool on the Dream It Up! blog, or at the bottom of this post. Play as many times as you'd like. Those of you who work Dreamweaver and/or Stampendous products into your projects receive bonus points, but everyone has an opportunity to be the winner who receives the stencil of their choice.

Here's my hint of Spring:

Here's what I used to create this canvas:

Archival Ink™ in Jet Black
Reeves® Gouache Paints: Leaf Green, Mid Green, Emerald, Prussian Blue, Blue Lake, Cobalt Blue Hue, Yellow Ochre, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber, White
Faber-Castell® Medium Point Black PITT Pen
Americana® Decou-Page™
Neenah® Classic Crest™ Solar White
Copic® Markers E47 & E49
Scrapbook Adhesives® 3D Foam Mounting Squares
5x7 Canvas Panel

Here's what I did to create this canvas:

Paste emboss Nest stencil and set aside to dry
Die cut tree and airbrush with Copics®, cut branches off on right side
Mix blues and small amount of green and paint canvas, once dry, coat with Decou-Page™
Once nest has dried, paint as shown
Adhere branches to canvas
Stamp "Love" as shown and write "is in the air" with PITT Pen
Trim nest and attach nest with foam squares to canvas

The "A" team would love to share their interpretations of this theme:

Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope you like my little canvas, I know it makes me happy!  Have a wonderful day !

Hugs,
Lea

PRIZE INFO:

We know this form of crafting will spark your interest and give your mojo a serious boost! That’s why we have prizes!!!  We’ll choose three winners at random from the comments on all blogs in the hop. Then from those three we’ll randomly pick a GRAND PRIZE winner! Two of the winners will receive Stampendous PenPattern Petal and PenPattern Flutter cling stamps, just like you’ll see on Kristine Reynolds amazing ATB sample. They’ll also receive enough pre-cut, premium matboard from Sizzix to make two boxes of your own, plus some extra pieces for fiddly bits! The Grand Prize winner will receive the stamps as above, a whole package of matboard, AND the Sizzix die to cut your own ATB boxes! Uh, WOW! If that weren’t enough, eligibility for these amazing prize packages has expanded to include our international fans too!

We know you won’t want to miss a single creation in this hop, and the Eileen Hull Designs Inspiration Team has several members that live outside the United States, so it took a while for them to get their products from us. We need to give them time to post and you time to comment, so the comment deadline will be Sunday, March 8th. A whole extra week! We will continue posting links as we receive them from the Inspiration Team, so be sure to keep checking back. You get one entry for every comment, so you don’t want to miss the chance to leave a thoughtful comment on each project. For those who tend to get lost, we’ll post a “cumulative” link list of links so far on Saturday, February 28th and Saturday, March 7th. Then you can check your progress.

We want to thank Eileen Hull, her amazing team and the fabulous products we were able to use this week. The idea of creating an artist trading block has changed our way of creating with new excitement. Even though we traditionally end our product partner weeks on a Friday the inspiration will continue as more projects come in and will be posted in a cumulative list at the end of each week.  Down below I have a list of links you may find helpful.  Thanks so much for stopping by on your crafty travels!  I hope you enjoy the hop, we've all enjoyed creating our projects for your inspiration.  Have a wonderful day and a fabulous weekend!

Hugs,
Lea

Key to My Heart

Break out the froufrou! For the month of February, the Dream Team is going Frilly and Fabulous! Vintage, retro, or modern, adding extra charm with fun Fran•táge products from Stampendous, ribbons and lace from May Arts, buttons, crystals, charms, or even creating your own dimensional decor! A snippet or a pile, whatever your creative heart desires! Remember to link your creations using the Inlinkz tool on the Dream It Up! blog for a chance to win the stencil of your choice! Bonus points for using Dreamweaver and/or Stampendous product in your work of heart.

Here's what I've been playing with:

Here's what I used to create this card:

Bo Bunny® Love Letters 6x6 Collection
Key Charm from Stampin' Up!®
Miscellaneous Brads

Here's what I did to create this card:

  • Die cut heart from Bo Bunny® paper
  • Add a thin layer of gesso over entire die cut heart
  • Tape stencil in center of heart and paste emboss with silver paste
  • Set aside heart to dry
  • Create 5x5 square card base with a tent fold
  • Trim wood grain paper to fit in background as shown
  • Once paste is almost dry, heat with heat gun allowing some areas to bubble up, this gives a rough, worn look
  • Once paste has cooled, replace stencil over paste and buff on Metallic Lustre™ all over
  • Using PITT pen, outline the entire pasted design and color the keyhole
  • Punch three holes and add brads
  • Adhere heart to background paper
  • Stamp sentiment on wood grain paper and layer onto green mat as shown
  • Trim ribbon to fit across the front of background paper, wrap ends under each side
  • Loop twine through top of key charm and attach to ribbon as shown with knot on back of ribbon
  • Attach sentiment with foam squares as shown
  • Using PITT pen, ink key to reduce shine and age key slightly

I love the shabby chic feel of my card.  For more frilly fun, visit the rest of the "A" team:

Wicked Wednesday with Sami Stamps

It's Wicked Wednesday ATC Challenge Blog time and this week our sponsor is Sami Stamps and our theme is Snowman/Snowmen!  I've used My Snowey Friend for my ATC this week.  I love, love, love this image!  It's like pure joy!  What do you think?

I've posted two photos to show that it's on a transparency for my ATC base.

Here's what I used to create this ATC:

  • Sami Stamps My Snowey Friend
  • Sharpie Poster-Paint Opaque Paint Marker in White
  • Faber-Castell PITT Pen 0.3 Black Ink
  • Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cover Stock
  • Highland Transparency Film
  • Copic Markers - B0000, 000, 91, 93, 95; BV20, 22, 25, 28; E21, 23, 25, 27, 50, 51, 93; Y35, 38; YG11, 13 17
  • Beacon Adhesives 3-in-1 Paper Glue

Here's what I did to create this ATC:

  • I printed my image, colored it with markers and trimmed it to the width of an ATC and made sure to trim the bottom to the desired size
  • I trimmed a piece of transparency to ATC size
  • I laid the transparent ATC over the image, lined up the bottoms of both and drew the arms on my transparency with the PITT pen and filled in the snowflakes with the white Sharpie
  • Next I fussy cut around the top portion of the image only
  • I then glued the image onto the transparent ATC and added more snowflakes

This was super easy and I think it came out really cute.  I hope I've inspired you to break out your snowmen, or go buy a new one from Sami, and create a fun ATC for our challenge.  We would love for you to play along!  You never know, you might just win!  Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you again soon!  Have a wonderful day!

Hugs,
Lea

Got Butterflies?

If you don't, Stampendous® does!!  We have some of the prettiest butterfly stamps out there!  The one of my card today is a favorite, Butterfly Tune.  One of the things I love about this stamp is that sweet spot above the music that is just calling for a sentiment!  I used "To Cheer You Today" from  Loving Messages Perfectly Clear™ Stamp Set for my sentiment, it was a perfect fit!

Here's what I used to create this card:

Stampendous® Loving Messages Perfectly Clear™ Stamps
Stampendous® Royal Blue Fran•táge Crushed Glass Glitter
Neenah® Classic Crest™ Solar White
Bazzill® Chiffon Canvas Texture Cardstock
My Mind's Eye™ Indie Chic Citron "Grow" Sherbert Paper
Faber-Castell® Gelatos™ in Banana, Butter Cream, Boysenberry, Blueberry, Metallic Blueberry, Chocolate, Champagne & Gold Champagne
Tim Holtz® Distress Ink® Pad - Antique Linen
Archival™ Ink Pad - Jet Black
Beacon Adhesive® Zip Dry™

Here's what I did to create this card:

Stamp image, stamp sentiment into image, color and trim
Add distress ink all over
Create card base with a tent fold and trim mat for image
Trim patterned paper as shown
Adhere layers as shown
Add glue where you want to apply glitter, sprinkle glitter on, tap off the excess and return it to the jar

This is such a simple card but I love it.  You can create your own in no time and bring some cheer to someone's day.  Thanks for stopping by, I'll see you again soon.  Have a blessed day!

Lea

August Splendor Canvas

As we are heading towards back-to-school again, it is only appropriate that we break out our dictionary for this month's Dreamweaver challenge..."AUGUST as an ADJECTIVE"!
Merriam-Webster defines august as, "marked by majestic dignity or grandeur", with synonyms such as, "dignified, distinguished, imposing, portly, solemn, staid, and stately". Now, I don't know just how dignified and stately the Dream Team can become for an entire month, but we are all going to give it a try! How about trying along with us, and linking YOUR creations to the inlinkz tool below for a chance to win the wildest stencil design your little heart is screaming for.

So, my question to you, is there anything more majestic or grand than a huge tree?  I don't believe there is!  Yes, I have a thing for trees, I've confessed that previously!  LOL!  I'm really fascinated with their beauty and resilience.  I've done a Spring and Summer Tree before and, now, here's my Fall:

Here's what I used to create this canvas:

Dreamweaver Stencils© DX 7020 Leafless Tree Die
Dreamweaver Stencils© Memories Mists™ - Stormy Water
Faber-Castell® Gelatos™ in Pistachio and Green Tea
Stampendous® Color Fragments in Leaf Green, Canary, Caramel, Ochre, Burgundy and Scarlet
Bo Bunny® Dots in Gray
Spectrum Noir™ markers BG4, BG5 & BG6
Beacon Adhesive® Gem-Tac™
Beacon Adhesive® Zip Dry™
Artist's Loft™ 6x6 Canvas Board

Here's what I did to create this canvas:

Run gray paper and die through cutter
Add marks to tree with markers
Spritz mist onto canvas and rub in
Add Gelatos™ to bottom and mix with water
Adhere tree to canvas with Zip Dry™
Mix color fragments in a separate container
Add Gem-Tac™ glue to canvas where you want "leaves"
Add fragments to canvas, shake off excess

Here's the rest of the team posting today:

That's it for me today.  Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you again soon.  Have a blessed day!

Hugs,
Lea

How Do You Stack Art?

All this week, the Stampendous Design Team and several guest designers have been showing off a lot of fun things you can create with the new Stampendous Stack Art Kits.  Truly, you are only limited by your imagination with these fun kits!  I've created two different projects with similar themes but two very different looks!  We'll get to my projects momentarily, first, here's an explanation of our Stack Art Kits to help you better understand what they consist of.

Our Stack Art Kits have three components:
  • The Stack Art Kraftboard Kit which includes all the kraftboard pieces you’ll need to make at least 4 amazing creations; die cut, double-sided adhesive for all the kraftboard pieces; and sentiments you can use to make each piece a special gift or card embellishment.
  • The Stack Art Stamp Sets which include an assortment of terrific background stamps and other images plus an acrylic handle.
  • The Stack Art Elements Kits which each include five jars of embellishing goodness to stick to your adhesive covered kraftboard pieces.
Since so many others have shown you projects using the larger kraftboard pieces, I decided to show you a couple of different ways to use the smaller accent pieces and the adhesive pieces.  Here's my first project:

Here's what I used to create this project:

DecoArt® Americana® Winter Blue Acrylic Paint
DecoArt® Americana® Baby Blue Acrylic Paint
DecoArt® Americana® Snow White
DecoArt® Traditions® Carbon Black
StāzOn® Cloudy Sky Ink Pad
Faber-Castell® Pitt Pen in Warm Grey III
Faber-Castell® Pitt Pen in Black Medium Point
Beacon® Gem-Tac
Artist's Loft™ Canvas Panel

Here's what I did to create this project:

Mix both blue paints and cover canvas
Paint on some clouds and allow to dry
Once clouds have dry, mix a tiny amount of black to some white paint and add some subtle shading in the clouds
Paint the wings with the white paint and set aside to dry
Cover the fronts of two hearts with glue and add the red glitter, set aside to dry
Using gray ink, cover wing stamp with ink, stamp off once and then stamp onto painted wings
Write sentiment on canvas panel
Glue wings and hearts onto canvas panel

For my second project, I wanted to make a little something different that I could set on my desk or on a shelf around the house.  I have a thing for hearts, I love them!  Hearts with wings remind me of my dad, I bought him a pillow that was a heart with wings attached right after he had quadruple by-pass surgery on his heart.  This project is dedicated to my dad whom I miss dearly!

Here's what I used to create this project:

Bo Bunny® Love Letters Collection 6x6 Paper Pad
Neenah® Classic Crest™ Solar White Cover Stock
DecoArt® Americana® Coral Blush Acrylic Paint
Tim Holtz® Distress Inks® in Antique Linen and Tea Dye
StāzOn® Cloudy Sky Ink Pad
Beacon® Gem-Tac®
Frames & Moore™ Medford 3.5 in x 5 in Frame

Here's what I did to create this project:

Stamp background image onto white cs and trim to desired size
Add distress inks to stamped image
Apply wings die-cut, double-sided adhesive  to image as shown
Add embossing enamel over wings and heat
Paint heart with coral paint, set aside to dry, apply additional coats of paint as needed
Trim patterned paper to fit frame
Adhere stamped image to center of patterned paper
Adhere heart to wings
Assemble into frame

That's it for me today!  I do hope you've enjoyed my projects and have found a little inspiration along the way!  Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope to see you again soon.  Have a blessed day!

Hugs,
Lea
