A Little Inspiration

It's time for another Dreamweaver Stencils post and this month it's all about "April Inspirations."  Each team member is posting what inspires them in their creative life...maybe a Pinterest pic, a magazine pic, a quote, a book, a place, an artist, a crafter friend...along with their creation. We are hoping that you will feel inspired as well, and link your projects (and inspiration) to the inlinkz tool on the Dream It Up! blog.  Here's my project, a journal page with a favorite quote:

Anyone that knows me, knows I have a thing for trees and nature.  I don't know what it is but they just call to me.  That makes Dreamweaver Stencil LX 7020 Leafless Tree my favorite stencil EVER!  Yeah, I know I've used it quite a bit but if you want to know what inspires me, that tree seriously inspires me!  There are two other things here that seriously inspire me, a brand new journal and paints!  I don't know if you realize it or not but Dreamweaver sells a fantastic set of 18 Jackson acrylic paints.   The quote I've used is also one of my favorites and always inspires me when I'm feeling a little down.

Here's what I used to create this project:

Dylusions 5 x 8 Creative Journal
Faber-Castell Pitt Pen in Black
DecoArt Gesso
Make-up Sponge
Various Paint Brushes

Here's how I created this project:

Prime both journal pages with gesso, allow to dry
Create a wash with water and Cerulean Blue paint, cover both pages with wash, allow to dry
Tape stencil to page and sponge on a mix of Burnt Umber and Mars Black paints, carefully remove tape and allow tree to dry
Using a mix of Phthalo Green and Light Green, paint grass onto page
With Viridian and Crimson Red, add in some "flowers"
Using a mix of all three greens, create your tree foliage
Allow 24 hours to completely dry, it will feel a little tacky to the touch until it's completely dry
Once completely dry, using Pitt Pen, add quote to page

Keep in mind that this is very impressionistic, it doesn't have to be perfect!  Journaling is supposed to be something you enjoy so don't stress over it!  Dreamweaver Stencils are perfect for using in your journals or on a canvas or other mixed media project.  Honestly, the possibilities are only as limited as your imagination!  So that's my project, now you should check out what the rest of the Dream Team has created for your inspiration.  Here's the list of who's participating this week:

Janelle Stollfus (Our Guest Designer)

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you'll come back by again soon, I'll have another Stampendous Catalog sneak peek for you tomorrow!  Have a blessed day!

Hugs,
Lea
