Halloween Day 13

Welcome to Day 13 of the Stampendous 31 Days of Halloween!  The Stampendous Design Team loves Halloween and we love to share our creations, however, we also love to see what you make with our stamps.  Look below for instructions on how to play along with us, you just might win a prize!

For my small canvas today, I've used the Andy Skinner Skuldoggery Cling Rubber Stamp Set.   This is such an awesome stamp set I had to use it again!  It's just so creepily perfect for Halloween decor!

Here's what I used to create this canvas:

Stampendous Products:

Other Products:

DecoArt® Americana® Multi-Surface Satin Paints
DecoArt® Media™ Gesso
Copic® Markers
StāzOn™ Jet Black Ink Pad by Tsukineko®

We’ve got two groups of prizes we’ll be giving away. First, you can comment on our blog and those of our designers, and we’ll randomly choose winners each week to win some Halloween product love. Second, you can enter your own creation in our Challenge Link. It will be at the bottom of every post and in our sidebar. It looks like this:

Click here to link your project
To enter, your project needs to be online somewhere, blog, flickr, Instagram, Pinterest, etc. Just click on the picture or words above to enter the link. If you can’t make a link to your project, email it to submissions@stampendous.com and we’ll host it for you. We will choose a winner each week from the links, winners must have a US mailing address to win, but anyone can share their projects with us.
Thanks for creeping by and I'll see you next week for more spookiness!
Boo!

Wings

There are some symbols in life that have special meaning to me and a heart with wings is certainly one of them.  My dad had heart surgery many years ago after a heart attack.  If you're familiar with that type of surgery, you know that it's important to cough afterwards to clear up your lungs and to prevent pneumonia or any type of infection.  It's also helpful to hold a pillow against your chest when coughing.  While visiting my dad, I went to the mall and ran across a pillow that was a red heart with white wings.  I bought the pillow and took it back to my dad.  He got a kick of having a heart pillow for his heart surgery.  Since then, heart wings have been pretty special to me and I wanted you to know why.

Stampendous has come out with this incredibly fun set called Wings Die Set.  It's neat because you have so many different styles of wings to choose from as well as a few different heart options.  As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to have it!  Here's a little canvas I created using the Wings Die Set as the centerpiece.  I hope you enjoy it.

Here's what I used to create this canvas:

Red Cardstock by Bazzill Basics Paper®
DecoArt® Media Fluid Acrylics™ - Titan Buff, Pyrrole Red, Quinacridone Magenta, Cobalt Teal Hue
Americana® Acrylic Paint - Whispering Turquoise, True Red, Cherry Red
Archival™ Jet Black Ink Pad in by Ranger®
Copic® Markers in C0, C1
3D Foam Squares by Scrapbook Adhesives®
Artist's Lofts™ Necessities™ Canvas Boards

This canvas was so easy to create, plenty of finger painting to bring out your inner artsy child for some fun!  Now I just have to decide where to put it!

Have a wonderful weekend and I'll see you next week with more Stampendous goodness.  Until then, have an awesome weekend.

Hugs,
Lea

Hopping with DecoArt

Today is the final day of the Stampendous® hop with DecoArt® and, as always, I’ve had a fun time!  I've done another small canvas for today using DecoArt's® Media Fluid Acrylics™ line of paints and one of my favorite stamps from the Stampendous Pink Your Life line, Whisper Birthday Rubber Stamp, along with the sentiment stamp, Heart of Friendship.  This particular sentiment really speaks to me because I have so many friends scattered around the world.  There are some I’ve never even met in person, yet, I still love them dearly!

Here's what I used to create this canvas:

Spectrum Noir™Markers by Crafter’s Companion
Artist's Loft™ Necessities™ Canvas Board
Miscellaneous Brushes

Here’s what I did to create this canvas:

Stamp your image on mixed media white paper.
Color the stamped image with your medium of choice and cut it out.
Mix the teal hue with the white and paint the canvas three quarters of the way from the top and down to create your sky.  If needed, add just a drop of turquoise like I did to give it a little deeper color.
Paint your grass on with the green gold paint, as you build your layers you get your light and dark areas.
Using the white paint and a round brush, just add some wispy clouds.
Adhere your stamped and colored image to the canvas using matte medium.
Once you’re sure everything is good and dry, stamp your sentiment.
This was another super simple canvas to create!  I love making these little canvases.  It’s such a fun way to showcase your stamps and just hang them around your house or sit them on little easels.  Then, when one catches your eye, you can’t help but smile.

Prizes (but, of course!):

Comment to win one of three HUGE prize packages that includes Andy Skinner stamps and DecoArt Media™ Paint plus more!  US winners only, see Stampendous Official Contest Rules here for more details.

Stencils and Paints and Stamps, Oh My!

Stampendous® is hopping with DecoArt® this week and it's always a fun time!  I've done a small canvas for today using DecoArt's® Media™ line of paints and one of my favorite stamps from Stampendous, Puddle Boots along with the Umbrella Stencil.  I had planned to use the Stampendous stamp, Cute Boots, with this canvas but due to unforeseen circumstances, I no longer have the stamp.  So, I had to compromise and write my own sentiment.  No biggie, right!?  That's what we crafters do, we make the best of every situation!

Here's what I used to create this canvas:

Spectrum Noir™ Markers
PITT Pen in Black by Faber-Castell
Artist's Loft™ Necessities™ Canvas Board

This was a super simple to create!  I colored the stamped image and cut it out.  That was probably the hardest part of the whole project.  After that I just squirted some paints on the canvas and brushed them around mixing them as I went along.  Once that was dry, I laid the stencil down and using a sponge, I dabbed paint onto it.  I let that dry and using the Matte Medium, I adhered the stamped image.  I allowed that to dry and using a PITT pen, I wrote the sentiment.

I plan to find a spot for this little canvas when I'm settled into my new craft room.  It's a good reminder for me to do some puddle jumping! I hope you have a wonderful day!  I'll see you again tomorrow with another fun little project!

Hugs,
Lea

Clowning Around

It's October 15th, already!  Only two more weeks until Trick or Treat!  So, it's also time for a new Desert Islands Crafters Challenge and this week our sponsor is Oddball Art Co.  I've used image Casey the Clown #75B for my card.  Here's the list of things to chose from for this challenge, remember, you need to use at least 3.

And here is my card using 1, 3, 4, 7 and 9:

Basicgrey® Eerie Paper Pad
Neenah® Classic Crest™ Solar White
Lime Green Bazzill Basics Paper®

I had a lot of fun playing "mad scientist" and mixing my own embossing powder mix!  I added a little of each of the embossing powders listed above, along with the lime and orange micro glitters.  It's so much fun to mix things up and see what you come up with.  For the corners, I've mixed the lime color fragments with black crushed glass glitter and orange micro glitter.  Fun, fun, fun!

Thanks so much for stopping by to take a look!  I hope you're inspired to play along with our challenge and I'll see you again soon!
