Wicked Wednesday with KennyK

Hello there!  That's right, it's Wicked Wednesday ATC Challenge Blog time and this week our sponsor is KennyK!  Our theme this week is "You're A Star" and the image is City Star Christmas Digital Image.  She's a sweet one to color!  I decided to use some non-traditional colors for this one, just needed a break from the traditional red and green.

My papers are all from the scrap pile and unfortunately, I don't have a clue who made these but they just seemed perfect for the direction I wanted this to go.  So, I apologize for not knowing the maker for this one.  She's colored with Copics listed here:
  • Skin:  E00, 11, 33, 93
  • Eyes:  YG93, 95, 97
  • Lips:  R35, 37, 39
  • Hair:  E40, 41, 42, 43
  • Hat:  B95, 97, 99; W0, 1, 4
  • Background:  YG61, 63, 67; C0, 1, 3, 5; B91, 93, 95; W0, 1; 0

I also used an EK Success punch for the additional stars, which I then rounded the points of with scissors.  My sentiment is from A Muse.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  You're greatly appreciated and in my eyes, you're a star!  We would love for you to play along with our challenge.  We even have a new fb page for you to visit. Wicked Wednesday ATC Challenge.  Stop by and join in on the fun!  I'll see you again soon!  Have a great day!

Who?

One of my favorite new Stampendous stamps this year is the PenPattern Owl.  I have a thing for owls and I'm so pleased that they have become popular again in the design world.  There's just something about the big round eyes that I can't resist!

This is what I used to create this canvas:

P230 PenPattern Owl
Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink by Tsukineko®
Solar White Classic Crest™ Cover Stock by Neenah®
Leafless Tree Stencil by Dreamweaver Stencils©
Canvas Board 4×6 by Artist’s Loft™
After Midnight, Slate Grey, & Lemon Zest Dylusion’s™ Sprays
1 3/8″ Circle Punch by EK Success®
Removeable Adhesive by Tombow®
Weathered Wood, Faded Jeans, Stormy Sky, Tumbled Glass, Broken China, Aged Mahogany, Worn Lipstick, Barn Door, Fired Brick, Victorian Velvet, Spun Sugar, Peeled Paint, Forest Moss, Shabby Shutters, Wild Honey, Vintage Photo, Tea Dye, Dried Marigold, Tattered Rose, Rusty Hinge, Spiced Marmalade, Chipped Sapphire, Dusty Concord, Milled Lavender, Mustard Seed, Scattered Straw, & Black Soot Distress Markers™ by Ranger®
Zip Dry™ Paper Glue by Beacon Adhesives®
Q-tips™
Cosmetic Sponge
This is what I did to create this canvas:
  • Stamp image onto canvas and onto paper.
  • Cut out stamped image on paper to create a mask.
  • Punch circle to create a mask for the moon.
  • Add removable adhesive to both masks and place owl mask over owl and circle mask in upper right corner of canvas.
  • Spritz on blue and gray sprays and mix with fingertips onto canvas, heat with heat gun to dry.
  • Remove mask for moon and dip a q-tip in yellow spray and apply to canvas, be sure to slightly extend into blue/gray to create a halo around the moon.
  • Place stencil on left side of canvas and, using a cosmetic sponge, stencil tree branches onto canvas, repeat the process for the right side of the canvas but move the stencil down a little lower.
  • Remove mask for owl and draw a “branch” on left side of canvas extending off the edge so image isn’t floating.
  • Color image with markers

Happy Who-lloween!  Thanks for stopping by today and I'll see you again soon!  Have a blessed day!

Lea

Fright Night!!

It's another Smeared and Smudged 31 Days of Halloween card and I love how this one turned out.  It's pretty much exactly what I pictured in my head when I started this project.  I'm so glad the Dreamweaver Stencils Dream Team decided to play along this year!  Here's my project for today:

Here's what I used to create this project:

Copic® Markers (YG93, 95, 97, 99; Y11, 17; C3, 4, 6)
Basic Black Cardstock
Christmas Red Stickles™
Zip Dry™ Paper Glue by Beacon® Adhesives
1 1/4" Circle Punch by EK Success®
1" Circle Punch by EK Success®
Tombow™ Mono Adhesive - Removable

Here's what I did to create this project:

First I penciled in my hills just to give reference points and I stamped the tree
Next I drew the tombstones, stamped the witch and the two smaller bats
I then taped on the bats stencil and inked the one bat with a sponge
Punched out two circles, one of each size
I colored in the grassy hills and tombstones then masked them off, I also masked the area for the moon with the larger circle
Using the grays, I airbrushed the sky and then removed the masks
I colored in the moon
Next I die cut my tree and adhered it on the card front
I stamped the spider
Stickles™ were added to the bats for eyes
I created my card base and adhered the card front to the base
I colored some white scraps with the green and trimmed a few pieces of grass and adhered them
I colored another piece of white with a green marker, stamped my sentiment and adhered it to a scrap of black cardstock that I then trimmed and adhered

This was such a fun scene to create, I do hope you find it to be as spooky fun as I do!  Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you again soon with yet another fun project!  In the meantime, have a wonderful day!

Hugs,
Lea

    DICC Time!

It's time for another Desert Islands Crafters Challenge!  This time around our sponsor is The Stamping Chef and my image of choice is Tabitha.  She's so soft and girly looking that I had to find papers that matched her femininity.  Instead of a card, I chose to create a tag.  I'm thinking I might just use the finished tag on the cover of a journal; I really like the completed project!  Our itinerary for this week is as follows:

    1.  Lots of pink
    2.  Sugar skulls
    3.  Suckers or sweets (lollipops or candy)
    4.  Hearts
    5.  Add a feather or wings
    6.  Pearls or gemstones
    7.  Add a banner or bunting
    8.  Stitching (real or faux)
    9.  Anything but a card
    10.  Spritzes or sprays

    For my project, I've used #'s 1, 4, 6, 7 and 9:

Here's what I used to create this project:

The Stamping Chef - Tabitha Digital Image
    Neenah® Classic Crest™ Solar White
    Bo Bunny® Little Miss Collection
    Bazzill®
    #10 Shipping Tag
    Copic® Markers:  E13, 15, 17, 18, 19, 50, 51, 53; C0, C1, C3
    Spectrum Noir™ Markers:  CR2, 3, 4; PP3, 5; TB2, 4
Tim Holtz® Distress Ink™ in Antique Linen and Pumice Stone
    Smooch™ in Siren and Silverfox
    DecoArt® Acrylic Gesso
    Copic® Multiliner - Black
    May Arts® Twine and Ribbon
    Celebrate It™ Paper Flowers
    Queen & Co.® Pearls
    SU!® Punch
    EK Success® Hole Punch
    Tim Holtz® Paper Distresser™ Tool
    Glue Dots™
    Zip Dry™
    Foam Mounting Square

Here's how I created this project:

Print image and color with markers, trim to desired size
Trim patterned papers to fit width of tag
Gesso top and bottom of exposed portion of tag
Distress edges of patterned papers and image
Add distress ink to image and edges of patterned paper
Adhere papers to tag as shown
Punch out pieces for bunting and write "hello"
Fold bunting pieces over twine and adhere with glue dots
Punch two holes, one on each angled part of top of tag
Thread bunting twine through holes and adhere punch pieces with glue dots
Add pearls over each letter as shown
Cut out heart from scrap paper and attach with foam square
Color roses with markers and attach to bottom of tag with glue dots
With scissors, trim around each rose forming a scalloped edge
Attach ribbon through hole at top of tag

That's it for today!  I do hope you like my somewhat shabby chic tag!  Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you again soon!

    Blessings,
    Lea

    Desert Islands Crafters Challenge Time!

So, I'm a little behind the 8 ball for this one but I hope my card will make up for my tardiness.  Let me just say, it's been a crazy weekend and I'm actually glad it's almost over!  I don't say that very often but I'm looking forward to the week ahead!  Our Desert Islands Crafters Challenge sponsor for this round is Polka Doodles, the image I've used is Dollie Daydream Goes East - Lantern Digi.  I've colored my image with Copics, enhanced her with a little chalk make-up (eye shadow and blush) and chalked the background.  I also used chalk for my lantern glow on the outside of the lantern.  Here's the itinerary for this challenge:

    1. Asian Themed
    2. Lots of Red
    3. Metallics
    4. Text (as in, paper or embellishments with text on them)
    5. Mythical Creatures
    6. Vellum
    7. Found Object from Nature
    8. Stripes
    9. Use Chalk
    10. Make it Glow

For my card, I used all but #5.  I just didn't have any mythical creature stamps or embellies that would have worked!  Here's my project:

I really had fun with this one!  If you're wondering where the metallic part of my card is, I used DecoArt's Metallic Lustre in Gold Rush on her dress hooks and trim around the edge.  I also used if for the handle of the lantern.  I punched the flowers out of vellum with a punch from  EK Success and colored them with Copics on the back side.  It was a beautiful spring-like day here in North Carolina so I enjoyed my little walk-about looking for just the right twigs for my "cherry blossoms."  My papers are Bazzill, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cover and Basic Grey's "konnichiwa."  The chalks are from Pebbles, Inc.

We hope you'll play along with the DICC team, you just might win!  Thanks for stopping by!

    Hugs,
    Lea

    True Harvest

Have you enjoyed the Dreamweaver Stencils and Quietfire Design Blog Collaboration? I have so enjoyed playing with the Quietfire Design team, and their amazing sentiments. In their beautiful calligraphic style, their quotes and thoughts are the perfect addition to our Dreamweaver designs. Follow along with us on our final hop today and leave your comments for an opportunity to win one of two wonderful prize packages:

    Here's what I've created for today's post:

I love fall and I love pumpkins!  I love anything pumpkin flavored, too!  So, it only seemed fitting to create a card using Stencil LJ 874, Fall Borders with my favorite fall fruit!  Using my stenciling brushes and a variety of Memento Dewdrops, I stenciled my design onto a piece of Neenah Classic Crest.  When I finished stenciling, I trimmed my image down and roughed the edges with my paper distressing tool.  Using Stampendous Boss Gloss, I inked my Quietfire Design The True Harvest of My Daily Life stamp and stamped it onto my image.  I added my Stampendous Detail Black Embossing Powder and heat embossed it.  I took my Zig Emboss Writer and added little dots around my sentiment and added more Stampendous Detail Black EP for some additional texture.  Next I brushed on Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Antique Linen and then edged it lightly with Tea Dye Distress Ink.  I created my card base with some green card stock I had in my stash.  For my patterned papers I used Bo Bunny’s Apple Cider Collection 6x6 Paper Pad.  I created a mat for my image that I also distressed the edge of and added some Tea Dye Distress Ink around the edge.  I adhered it all together with Beacon Zip Dry and, using a glue dot, I added a piece of May Arts ribbon I thought looked similar to a vine that I tied in a knot.  All done!

Check out today's awesomeness which includes...

    Quietfire Design Members...

    Sherry Cheever
    Holly Eastbrook

    and Dream Team members...

    and the

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you like my card and be sure to leave a comment to be entered to win!  See you again real soon!

    Happy Birthday!

Last week was Fran Seiford's birthday.  In case you don't know, Fran is the owner and artist behind all those wonderful stamps at Stampendous.  Happy birthday, Fran!  Anyway, some of us made cards to celebrate her special day and this is the card I created.

The top layer of the cake comes out since I made the bottom layer a pocket!  These cute candles are from the Fifteen Candles Perfectly Clear Set.  I also used a selection of Stampendous glitters, each candle is a different color.

And when you untie the top layer and open it up, it's a mini card with in a card!  I used Timeless Twine to tie the card.  There's a method to my madness, I add the twine to keep the top layer from sinking too far into the bottom layer.  I used Beacon's Zip Dry to adhere the Multi Ultra Fine Crystal Glitter to the drippy goo icing!

And here's the inside sentiment!  This stamp is from the Party Invite Perfectly Clear Set, one of my all time favorites!

    Other products used:

    Bazzill Paper
    Bo Bunny Dots
    Bella Blvd Sugar Rush
    EK Success Daisy Chain Punch
    Martha Stewart Drippy Goo Punch
    Queen & Co. Pearls

This is a simple but cute card and I do hope you like it!  Thanks for stopping by and sharing in my love for all things Stampendous!  Have a good day and I'll see you back here soon!

    Lea

    Stampendous Challenge Time

Hey all!  Yep, it's Saturday so that means it's time for a weekly challenge at Stampendous.  We've been given the challenge of creating a gift item.  That could be a myriad of items from something as simple as a gift card holder to something far more elaborate.  Today I'm showing you a simple gift item that was fun and easy to create.  I purchased a blank white EK Success canvas frame from my local stamp store and using the Stampendous Ranunculus, I stamped it onto the canvas and colored it with Copic markers.  I love it!  By the way, those are two of my six children.  That's Sarah and Joey when they were 5 and 3; they're now 18 and 16 and still just as cute!

Here's a list if the rest of the Design Team members that are playing along this week.  As you hop along, be sure to leave some love along the way!

And we want YOU to play along with us!  Simply make a gift, gift set (could be cards, could be an altered item), or a gift card holder of some sort and add the direct link for your project to our collection at the end of this post (or on the Stampendous blog) no later than Thursday, May 31 at 11:59 PM EST .  You do not have to use Stampendous products, but we sure love it when you do!  As an extra incentive for playing along, one lucky crafter (drawn at random) will receive this fabulous new Cling Jumbo Tropical Garden stamp set:

Due to shipping restrictions, the winner must have a US address.  We hope you have a chance to play along with us (you an enter as many times as you'd like!) this month...Happy Crafting!

    Lea

    Pan Slingin' London

Sizzle, sizzle, sizzle!  Today we are previewing Simply Betty Stamps Pan Slingin' London, fourth in the Teen Scene Kitchen Fun collection.  Isn't she a hottie!?  I thought she looked sassy and certainly too cute to be cookin'!  I thought she kind of had that look like "you want me to do what with what?"

My image is on Neenah and colored with Copics.  I cut the image out with a Spellbinder's Nestability and inked the edge with Tim Holtz Distress Ink.  The base of my card is Bazzill with layers of Doodlebug Designs and EK Success (the green one) papers.  I added some Prima flowers with Queen & Co. rhinestones.  I typed up my own little sentiment in MS Word, layered it and pop-dotted it on.  She is sizzlin'!

    ¡Buen apetito!  (in Spanish)
