All aboard!

Hi all!  Today I have a Stampendous Sketch Challenge card to share with you.  If you haven't played along with our weekly sketch on Splitcoast Stampers you should give it whirl!  Here's a copy of the SC396 sketch for this week:

Now, here's my take on it:

I've actually had this paper for a while just waiting for the opportunity to use it with just the right stamp and sketch.  So here are the deets on my card!  I used Railroad Poster from Stampendous as my image that I stamped with Jet Black Staz-On onto Neenah's natural paper and then distressed the edge with the Tim Holtz distressing tool and distress inks, Vintage Photo and Tea Dye.  The base of my card is Bazzill, my patterned papers are K and Company and Graphic 45.  I also added some Tea Stained Mica Fragments and Bronze Crushed Glass Glitter, both from Stampendous, as a little extra bling.  Here's a close-up:

I have to say that masculine cards are always challenging to me.  I love bling and flowers and ribbon and those things don't generally mix with "masculine" cards.  Also on Splitcoast Stampers is another challenge, Dare to Get Dirty 12 (DTGD12) and I'm using this card for the DTGD12Twinshappy challenge.  If you want more details, you should go to the challenge forum and check it out!

Also, I realize I'm a little late announcing this but life has kind of gotten in the way the past few days and things don't always go as planned!  Does that ever happen to you?  There may be some of you wondering who won my blog candy from last week's Stampendous New Release Week.  I'm happy to announce that JenGD is my lucky winner.  Wondering what she won?  It was a secret!  Here's what she won:

So, JenGD, I hope you like your prizes, please leave me your e-mail addy so I may contact you.  That's it for today.  Hope you like my card and will check back again soon.  Thanks for stopping by!

Hugs!

Who's your hero?

It's finally here! Release Blog Hop day!  First I want to tell you about a few of my heroes.  I've had a lot of heroes over the years, my grandpa was my first hero.  He loved me and I loved him like no other.  He passed away when I was 16, just a few days before Christmas.  I was crushed.  My first hero was gone.  My second hero was my Uncle Wake.  He had married my aunt and was helping her raise me (my mother passed when I was four and my dad was in the Navy and at sea).  He had been a Marine and was a rough and tough kind of guy unless an animal was involved and then you saw his soft heart.  He taught me a myriad of things growing up; he made sure I had real world survival skills before I left the nest.  He's still close by, always ready with a joke or a bit of wisdom.  He's still one of my heroes.

On a more recent note, the firemen at Fire Station 1 right here in Winston-Salem are my heroes.  Sadly I don't even know their names but they were the first responders when I had a stroke nine years ago and crashed twice.  Had they not arrived so quickly and begun their life-saving skills on me, I'm not sure I would be here today.  They will always be my heroes!  So, who are the heroes in your life?

Meet Fireman Jude, the final image in the new Jude and the Rockers Just for Fun collection from Simply B Stamps.  He's adorable!  I love the Dalmatian puppy and his cute little firetruck too.  Daniel, my youngest son, used to be so enamored of firetrucks and firemen.  His birthday party when he turned 3 was all about firemen and firetrucks, we even found him a fireman's suit that was very realistic.  The neighborhood firemen brought their truck to his party and let all the kids check it out.  It was a total hit!  Anyway, here's my card:

Who's ready to put out some fires?  He's sure to set your little heart on fire!

Birthday Princess Rio Surprise Blog Hop

Today is Miss Rio's birthday!  Sho nuff!  As you may or may not know, Rio is Betty's daughter and she's 14 today.  I have to tell you, this young lady is one of the sweetest, most mature young ladies that I know.  I had the distinct pleasure of spending time with her during the recent CHA Convention in Anaheim, CA.  I was very impressed!  Betty, our fearless leader, is an amazing mother and her children are a wonderful reflection of some great parenting!

In honor of Rio's birthday, we are doing a surprise blog hop.  So, SURPRISE!  Betty, being the loving mother that she is, designed an image specifically for Rio called Birthday Princess Rio and that is the image we are previewing for you today from the new Simply B Stamps Teen Scene Birthday Munsters.

Currently you are here.  You should have landed here from Jennifer D.  Your next stop is with Lelia.  If you get lost along the way, here's the complete order:

Starts at SBS
Lea (Me!)
ends at Suzi's blog

Now, on to my card.  Yes, it's another simple card but I think it's cute and I know Rio will like it.  You see, I happen to know Rio likes rainbows, tutus, cool socks and cool shoes!  This one is right up her alley!  My base is Bazzill, my rainbow paper is K and Company, the yellow dot paper is Lasting Impressions.  My image is on Neenah and colored with Copics.  I added some chipboard letters spelling her name.  I used some tulle for my "ribbon" and added some Star Dust Stickles to it for a little sparkle.  And there she is, Birthday Princess Rio!

Please hop along with the rest of the design team, we love sharing our creations with you!  Thanks for stopping by and if you leave me some love, you know it will make my day!  By the way, the last time I saw Rio, she was wearing a rainbow tutu!

 Happy birthday, Rio, love ya!

Hugs,
Lea

Confetti Funfetti!

Welcome back!  Have I got an adorable image to share with you today!?  Meet Confetti London, newest in the Simply B Stamps Teen Scene Birthday Munsters collection.  Isn't she the cutest?  Of course she has her sidekick, Lynx, with her to help celebrate.  This is one of those cute images that can be used for any happy celebration or party.

This has to be one of the easiest cards I've ever made.  The yellow paper is Bazzill and the patterned paper is from a Girl Scouts paper stack by K & Company.  My image is on Neenah and colored with Copics.  I layered and centered the image, cut out some flowers from my paper and pop-dotted them in the corners, then I added some Star Dust Stickles to the confetti and the centers of each flower.  Voila!  Cuteness!!  Honestly, it doesn't get much easier than that.  The paper was rather busy in itself so I really wanted to keep the design rather simple.  I do hope you like it!

The Simply B Stamps design team have more cards posted on our blog that I know you don't want to miss.  Pop on over and take a look and leave a little love if you're so inclined!

Don't forget to stop back by tomorrow for yet another sneaky peek at the next adorable image in this new collection from Simply B Stamps.  Thanks for stopping by and if you left me some love, it's greatly appreciated.

Hugs,
Lea
