Mixing It Up

Hello, hello!!  I’m beyond excited this week as the Stampendous Design Team is playing with our BFFs over at DecoArt!  As you probably already know, Andy Skinner has designed some amazing stamps for Stampendous.  What you might not know, Andy just happens to be the DecoArt International Education Coordinator.  How cool is that job!?

Andy and his band of merry mixed media artists are playing along with us, including Julia Stratford-Wright, Mark Gould, Mel Hookham, and Jools Robertson. Plus, there will be posts this week on the DecoArt blog, too.  Since, I know you’ve already been wowed by my teammates earlier this week, I hope today’s posts will be just as awesome!  I've prepared some step-out photos just for you!

Once stencil is taped down, sponge on ink in a random fashion.  I purposely did not cover the entire area the stencil covered.

Squeeze one drop of Diarylide Yellow Media Fluid Acrylic into Regular Embossing Paste. As you can see here, I've only used one drop of Fluid Acrylic.  Since they're so highly pigmented, it only takes one drop to get amazing color results.

Mix paste and paint thoroughly.

The paste is a little lighter than I wanted so I'm going to darken it some.

So, I've added a little drop of Cadmium Orange hue and mixed it up.  Notice, I've used the tiniest of drops to get the perfect color!

Here's my paste, the perfect shade I wanted and ready to spread! Because it takes so little paint to tint the paste, there's not much needed

Here it is, all pasted and drying!

In the meantime, I've stamped my images, created my card base, snipped a flower stem and cut out a leaf that I stamped my sentiment on!  Once my paste dried, I added some distress ink and layered it all to form my card!

So, here's my card with a rather fun and funky sunflower!

Here's the complete list of products I've used to create this card:

DecoArt® Media Fluid Acrylics™ in Diarylide Yellow and Cadmium Orange Hue
Memento™ Cantaloupe, Dandelion and Rich Cocoa Ink Pads by Imagine Crafts®
Vintage Photo ID Distress Ink™ by Ranger®
My Colors® Desert Cactus Cardstock
Faber-Castell® PITT™ Artist Pen in Green Gold
Scrapbook Adhesives® 3D Foam Mounting Squares by 3L®
Zip Dry™ Paper Glue by Beacon Adhesive

WE HAVE AWESOME PRIZES!!

You’ll want to get your commenting fingers ready…so put down your paintbrushes! Each comment on a post this week will enter you to win a fabulous prize package! (One comment per post, per person.)  This contest is open to everyone!!  We have three packages and each has a Fluid Media Starter Kit, all three of Andy Skinner’s new Stampendous Stamp Sets, and a Jumbo Acrylic Handle. Look at this great prize!

Here's a list of my teammates that are playing along today, be sure to leave them some love:

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I'll have another project for you tomorrow so make sure to come back.  In the meantime, have a wonderful day, I'll see you again soon!

Hugs,
Lea

Hello, Beautiful!

Hello, beautiful "Faces of Stampendous!"  It's been an amazing week of gorgeous girls and some pretty cool creations from our amazing Design Team.   Over the past week you've seen Beautiful Braid, Beauty(ful) Face, Feminine Face, The Glance, and The Look!  I decided to create a 6x6 canvas for today's project using The Look and combining my love of Copic markers and DecoArt's Americana Paints!

Here's what I used to create this canvas:

Stampendous® Cling The Look

     Sapphire
     Primary Blue
     Bleached Sand
     Antique White
3D Foam Squares by 3L®
Zip Dry™ Paper Blue by Beacon
AC Moore® Studio 6x6 Canvas

Here's what I did to create this canvas:

Stamp face with black ink, color with markers and fussy cut.
Paint canvas, set aside to dry.
Paint a strip of paper with "sand" paints.
Stamp sentiment onto strip of paper and attach to canvas with foam mounting squares.
Adhere face image to canvas.

Here's a list of my teammates playing along today:

I love to paint and I love to stamp, so, when I get to combine my two favorite things, I'm in Heaven!  This was certainly a treat to create and share with you today.  All of the lovely "Faces of Stampendous" are perfect for cardmaking and mixed media/journaling projects.

Thanks so much for stopping by and having a look at "The Look."  I'll see you again soon with more Stampendous goodness.  Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Dreamy Embossing

Hello, hello!  Do you know what today is?  It's Stampendous Dreamweaver Thursday!  For today, I've created a card using one of the techniques in Fran Seiford's new book, Embossing Powder Techniques from A-Z.  Fran is the owner and founder of Stampendous and has been using these techniques for years.  The book is absolutely amazing, very clear instructions and so easy to follow and learn from!  Also, in case you didn't already know, Stampendous is now carrying the Milwaukee Heat Tool by Wagner.  Truly one of the best heat tools out there!

I made this card using Technique P - Molten Magic. This fun technique can be found on page 38 of the book.  It's one of my favorites!

And a close-up:

Here's what I used to create this card:

Stampendous® Embossing Powder Techniques from A-Z
Stampendous® Dreamweaver Stencil LJ 896 Large Flourish
Stampendous® Real Red Embossing Powder
Stampendous® Silver Tinsel Embossing Powder
Stampendous® Dreamweaver Regular Embossing Paste

Merry Christmas!

This week at Stampendous, we’re celebrating the “Reason for the Season!”  Today I’m taking it back to the beginning when Jesus was born.  Can you imagine being in Mary’s shoes, or sandals?  Here you are pregnant, ready to give birth, and you’re having to travel across a desert!  What misery she must have been in!  The heat, the bumpy ride on an ass, all while in labor!  I’m totally in awe of Mary.  Anyway, as I reflected on Mary’s journey, I decided to create my card with that thought in mind.

Here’s what I used to create this card:

Memento™ Rich Cocoa Ink Pad by Tsukineko®
Memento™ Bamboo Leaves Ink Pad by Tsukineko®
Memento™ Desert Sand Ink Pad by Tsukineko®
Tim Holtz® Distress™ Ink in Tumbled Glass by Ranger®
Copic® Markers
My Colors® Grasshopper Canvas Texture Cardstock
Zip Dry™ Paper Glue by Beacon Adhesive
Scrapbook Adhesives® 3D Foam Mounting Squares by 3L®

Here’s what I did to create this card:

Stamp image with black ink on white paper and color with markers.
Cut out image and set aside.
Trim a piece of white paper to 4” x 5.25” and tape stencil down.
Stencil palms on left side and then switch to right side and stencil just the large palm.
Using a sponge dauber, add Desert Sand ink to bottom of paper.
Using a stipple brush, add Tumbled Glass ink to the “sky” portion
Trim a piece of green cardstock to 4.25” x 11” and fold in half, top to bottom for card base.
Adhere stenciled piece to card base.
Add foam squares to back of stamped image and adhere to card.

Here’s a list of my teammates playing along today:

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I have another card to share with you tomorrow so please do come back.  Until then, have a wonderful day and enjoy the season!  Merry Christmas!

Lea

Hello there!  It's Dreamweaver Thursday at Stampendous, thanks for stopping by to check it out!  We've been spreading the paste at Stampendous this week!  We love our Dreamweaver Stencils Embossing Paste and my favorite is the Metallic Silver that I've used today.  Here's my card:

Periwinkle Cardstock by Bazzill Basics Paper®
Purple Cardstock by Bazzill Basics Paper®
ZipDry™ Paper Glue by Beacon Adhesives
Scrapbook Adhesives® 3D Foam Mounting Squares by 3L®

Here's what I did to create this card:

Trim a piece of mixed media white paper to fit stencil
Using mists, spritz and drip the colors desired onto paper, allow to dry
Tape down stencil onto spritzed paper and paste emboss with silver paste, set aside to dry
Create an A2 card base with a tent fold from purple cardstock
Trim a piece of periwinkle paper and spritz and drip with sprays
Trim a small piece of purple cardstock for sentiment
Ink stamp with VersaMark™ pad and stamp onto purple cardstock, add embossing powder and heat
Trim a piece of purple cardstock to mat stenciled piece
Once paste has dried, edge stenciled piece and sentiment with silver ink

Lea
